  • HAUNTINGLY TOLD LITERARY GRAPHIC NOVEL THE CUTTING GARDEN HITS SHELVES THIS FALL

31130814083?profile=RESIZE_192X31130814262?profile=RESIZE_192XPORTLAND, Ore. 04/08/2026 — From Eisner Award-winning writer Darcy Van Poelgeest (Little Bird, Precious Metal) and rising star watercolor artist Erin Connally comes The Cutting Garden. This gorgeously rendered, standalone graphic novel hardcover explores companionship, legacy, and sacrifice and will hit shelves this September from Image Comics.

On a quiet street in New Orleans, a mysterious girl seeks out a florist to deliver an earth-shattering truth in a final act of kindness and redemption. The Cutting Garden is an intimate and elegant gothic tale that shares bloodlines with contemporary literary horror books like that of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V. E. Schwab and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and postmodern indie films like The Tree of Life.

"The Cutting Garden has been a labor of love for many years and I’m thrilled we can finally share it with the world," said Van Poelgeest. "The process of writing and creating this story has sincerely changed me, as a writer, and a person. My hope now is that readers will take this journey themselves through the stifling shadows of Louisiana, and perhaps they too might feel a change."

Connally added: "As my debut in comics, I wanted to offer readers a visual feast that represents both Darcy and my fascination with beauty and decay. As a southerner, I needed to capture the landscape that’s inspired me since I was a child. The Cutting Garden is this combination—a weird little Southern Gothic lullaby that I hope readers will be entranced by."

Van Poelgeest first came to prominence with his breakout hit series Little Bird, co-created with Ian Bertram, which topped sales charts and sold out and was reprinted multiple times. It went on to win the Eisner Award for Best Limited Series in 2020. Its highly anticipated sister series, Precious Metal, launched in 2024 and gained instant critical acclaim.

The Cutting Garden original graphic novel hardcover (ISBN: 9781534330801) will be available at local comic book shops on Wednesday, September 2 and independent bookstores, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Indigo, and Waterstones on Tuesday, September 29.

GOU TANABE’S MANGA ADAPTATION OF “H.P. LOVECRAFT’S THE DUNWICH HORROR” WILL BE PRESENTED IN DELUXE EDITION FORMAT FOR ENGLISH AUDIENCES

Continue the descent into horror in the newest volume of Tanabe’s manga adaptations, featuring wraparound cover artwork and more!

31130814687?profile=RESIZE_192XMILWAUKIE, Ore., (March 13, 2026)— No one in the small town of Dunwich knew who young Wilbur Whateley’s father was—or that the hideous outcast boy was the most dangerous sorcerer alive. Now, Dark Horse Manga will bring Gou Tanabe’s adaptation of the cosmic horror tale to English audiences in H.P. Lovecraft’s The Dunwich Horror Deluxe Edition. Adapted into English by Zack Davisson, translator of the two-time Eisner Award-winning Showa: A History of Japan by Shigeru Mizuki, and lettered by the Eisner-nominated Steve Dutro.

In H.P. Lovecraft’s The Dunwich Horror:

The horror was born before dawn on February 2, 1913—the feast of Candlemas, although the people of Dunwich call that ancient festival by a different name. Of unknown father, Wilbur Whateley was not christened—yet he descended still from a once-proud Puritan family that left Salem in 1692 to found Dunwich, Massachusetts.

Dr. Henry Armitage, head librarian at Miskatonic University, drives the dusty, rutted roads out to Dunwich to meet the child prodigy with whom he has been corresponding on the most abstruse and disturbing lore. Dr. Armitage can hardly believe the sight of the priceless hoard of occult books rotting away in the Whateley farmhouse—nor that of the dark, goatish Wilbur, for whom those books have been his only education.

Young Wilbur is not content with his homeschooling—to complete his studies, he needs something Miskatonic possesses, the Latin edition of the Necronomicon. And if they’re too snooty to lend their precious copy out to a country boy like him, Wilbur has other means to get it. Wilbur Whateley was born into this world with a great and horrific purpose—to open a doorway for those not of this world to return to Earth!

Eldritch chills and psychological thrills await in H.P. Lovecraft’s The Dunwich Horror Deluxe Editionwhen the 650-page (7x10”) hardcover arrives in bookstores and comic shops on September 29, 2026, for $49.99. Pre-order now from Dark Horse Direct, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or your local bookstore or comic shop. Visit Find your comics store (FYCS) for more details and stores near you.

CELEBRATE PULP, PERIL, AND PURE STYLE IN FRANCESCO FRANCAVILLA’S BLACK BEETLE OMNIBUS

    The Black Beetle Omnibus

Collects all three adventures for the first time alongside never-before-seen bonus content

31130815272?profile=RESIZE_192XMILWAUKIE, Ore. (February 26, 2026)—Dark Horse Books presents The Black Beetle Omnibus, Francesco Francavilla’s (Batman The Black Mirror, White Boat, Afterlife With Archie) love letter to classic crime busters. The Black Beetle Omnibus will collect every thrilling Black Beetle tale written and illustrated by Francavilla for the first time, including the full-length adventures No Way Out and Kara Bocek and the one-shot, Night Shift. The paperback book also collects never-before-seen bonus content, including concept art, layouts, character studies, vintage-style lobby cards, behind-the-scenes material from Francavilla’s sketchbook, and a brand-new cover by Francavilla.

    About The Black Beetle:

After witnessing an explosion that decimates the city’s organized crime community, killing dozens, the Black Beetle—Colt City’s sleuthing sentinel—is on the hunt for answers and justice in the story, No Way Out.

In Kara Bocek, the masked American hero ventures to the Middle East incognito (as Tom Sawyer) to fight Nazis in pursuit of a mysterious object of terrible power—a weapon of unknown origin, older than the pyramids, which could fuel the Thousand-Year Reich of Hitler’s dreams.

Finally, in Night Shift, the Black Beetle is on the case when a powerful totem of magic shows up at Colt City Natural History Museum, prompting Hitler to send his fearsome Werewolf Korps to collect the piece.

"I'm super excited to see all the adventures—published so far—of my baby, THE BLACK BEETLE, collected in one book,” said Francavilla.” It's the perfect way to get to know (or rediscover for those who are already familiar with the books) my neo-noir hero and get excited for what comes next in the shadowy streets of Colt City!"

The Black Beetle Omnibus (paperback, 216 pages, 10.1875 x 6.625”) will be available in bookstores and comic shops on September 22, 2026. It is now available for preorder at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and your local comic shop and bookstore for $29.99.

    Praise for The Black Beetle:

“The Black Beetle #1 is one of the most exhilarating, stunning superhero comics on the stands . . . This miniseries presents a high-stakes mystery realized through Francavilla’s intensely graphic style, full of innovative layouts and spectacular splash pages.”—The Onion’s A.V. Club

“The Black Beetle has everything readers want from a pulp Saturday afternoon special. The hero is unique and shrouded in mystery, the plot is twisted and aching to grow into more, and the craft of both writing and art are spectacular. If you enjoyed Francailla's work at DC, then you owe it to yourself to get on this. The Black Beetle is a delightful slice of skewed madness from one of today's finest artists.”—Comic Book Resources

“The hard-boiled mystery hits the ground running and doesn’t pause to catch its breath.”—Nerdist

‘STAR TREK’ COMICS LAUNCH BOLD NEW ERA TO CELEBRATE 60TH ANNIVERSARY

IDW BEAMS TWO FLAGSHIP ONGOING SERIES TO COMIC SHOPS IN 2026

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 18, 2026) – For 60 years, STAR TREK has captivated fans with its inspiring stories of exploration and discovery. To celebrate this year’s milestone anniversary, IDW Publishing is unveiling its biggest and boldest plans yet for the iconic science fiction franchise.

    31130815681?profile=RESIZE_400x
STAR TREK art by Dennis Menheere
Beaming into comic shops this September is STAR TREK #1, the can’t-miss debut issue from the new blockbuster ongoing series. From Eisner-nominated writer Christopher Cantwell (Iron Man, Out of Alcatraz) and Ringo-nominated artist Dennis Menheere (Little Nightmares: Descent to Nowhere, Hello Darkness) comes the epic story about survival and legacy as a secret mission led by Captain Seven of Nine brings the Enterprise-G beyond the four quadrants of the galaxy for the first time ever. The Enterprise ventures into a hidden region of space where time fractures, minds unravel, and an unseen power manipulates fear itself—testing whether the Federation’s ideals of exploration are salvation… or the universe’s greatest mistake.

“As we look back on 60 years of Star Trek, we celebrate a story universe that has actually always been about looking forward — a shared dream swirling within the daunting wonder and awe of the stars. I discovered Star Trek at the age of 10 and my life was never the same. The worlds, the people, the stories that wrestled with the work it takes to build community and consensus, to establish and hold sacred values like peace and harmony, the tenuousness of truce amid a galaxy of agendas and perspectives. That is the magic of Star Trek — the kaleidoscopic wonder of its complex themes and notions.

In building a brand new Star Trek adventure, we seek to do just that: create something brand new, something that looks entirely forward into the hope of the complete — and at times frightening — unknown, all as our ensemble of characters stands shoulder to shoulder, facing the expanse of an adventure never dared before. There is an abundance of incredible mythos that Star Trek has given us over six decades, but with this launch we seek to shed that past even as we embrace its best qualities.

If you’ve never experienced Star Trek in your entire life, this adventure is for you. It is a clean slate; truly a strange new world full of new characters — some of whom speak to what has come before, yes, but whose entire mission and purpose concerns boldly going where literally no one has gone before… not even Star Trek itself.” - Christopher Cantwell

31130815692?profile=RESIZE_710xSTAR TREK: ZERO POINT logo by IDW Design Team
Landing in October is STAR TREK: ZERO POINT #1 from Hugo Award-winning writer Charlie Jane Anders (New Mutants, Women of Marvel). While the Enterprise vanishes beyond the galaxy, Captain Raffi Musiker commands a starship tasked with preventing tomorrow’s disasters today — guided by a powerful artificial intelligence wearing the face of a familiar ally that may know too much, and understand too little about hope.

"I've loved Star Trek for as long as I can remember — literally, some of my earliest memories are of wearing a homemade Starfleet uniform and waiting to get beamed up. I'm putting all my favorite Trek things into this comic: problem solving, ethical dilemmas, identity crises, and above all, chosen family.

At the same time, I'm determined to write a Trek comic that newbies can read with no homework required: there are no easter eggs, no callbacks to deep lore. Anyone who loves Becky Chambers or Martha Wells ought to be able to pick up this comic and get a fun science fiction story about artificial consciousness and exoplanets. Also, I'm talking to tons of physicists to get the most accurate science I can into this comic. I'm having the time of my life." - Charlie Jane Anders

This year will also see the release of two exceptional one-shots that commemorate everything that makes Star Trek truly special. From an incredible lineup of LGBTQIA+ creators comes STAR TREK: CELEBRATIONS 2026 in May, starring the universe’s queer characters in tales of love and triumph, exemplifying Gene Roddenberry’s mission for us all to one day celebrate infinite diversity in infinite combinations.

This September, the 50-page comic STAR TREK: 60TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL is one big celebration of the compelling and beloved franchise. Featuring all-new stories by Dana Gould, Ryan North and Derek Charm, David Walker, Megan Camerena, and more! Plus, covers by Michael Cho, John Tyler Christopher, Chris Fenoglio, and more!

Also releasing this year is STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY - LOST CONTACT #1 (04/15/26), plus new issues of the hit titles STAR TREK: THE LAST STARSHIP and STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS. Even more new comics will be revealed later this year, too.

Abrams ComicArts Announces Fall 2026 Graphic Novels Season

New graphic novels from Derf Backderf, Alex Ross, Nate Powell, Patrick McDonnell,

Inio Asano, and Muneyuki Kaneshiro power Abrams ComicArts’ Fall 2026 season

FEBRUARY 6, 2026—New York, NY—Abrams ComicArts is proud to announce its Fall 2026 season of graphic novels. The season brings together political history, civil rights nonfiction, pop culture, classic adaptations, literary fiction, and manga, reflecting the full scope of the publisher’s comics program and the range of what the medium can do.

Among the season’s most timely books is The Dissidents, a new graphic novel by Derf Backderf. Set in the United States during World War I, the book follows cartoonists, journalists, and activists targeted by the federal government under the Espionage Act as dissent is criminalized and fear is used as a political weapon. As the story unfolds, the parallels to the present are stark. Surveillance, propaganda, attacks on the press, and the erosion of civil liberties feel uncomfortably familiar, making The Dissidents a reminder that the fight over free expression in America is not new and far from settled.

That same sense of urgency carries through Framing Emmett Till: Exposing Dark Fear, a nonfiction graphic novel written by Christopher Benson and illustrated by Eric Battle. Examining the murder of Emmett Till through the legacy of his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, the book focuses on the power of images, testimony, and public memory. Rather than functioning only as history, the book speaks directly to the present moment, as debates over racial violence, historical truth, and whose stories are allowed to be told continue to shape public life.

Leading the season is Marvel Dimensions, an original graphic novel by Alex Ross and the most ambitious and intricate comic he has ever made. Built around the physical design of the book itself, the story moves across multiple realities and reframes familiar Marvel characters in surprising ways. Fully painted by Ross, the graphic novel uses scale, perspective, and structure as narrative tools, creating an experience that is inseparable from its form.

A cornerstone of Abrams ComicArts are exceptional literary adaptation graphic novels. Don Quixote: A Graphic Novel Adaptation, adapted by Paul and Gaëtan Brizzi, brings Miguel de Cervantes’ novel into graphic novel form while preserving both the comedy and the melancholy that have made the story endure. The Brizzi brothers’ artwork gives the novel a fresh visual life without losing the spirit that has carried it across centuries.

Literary graphic novels are another cornerstone of the Fall 2026 season. Diana, a new graphic novel by Nate Powell, is a punk rock period piece set in the 1990s. Centered on queer community, music, and intimacy, the book follows a young woman searching for love and belonging in a world shaped by misfits and DIY culture. Diana shares a universe with Powell’s earlier books Come Again and Fall Through, while standing firmly on its own.

The season also turns to the enduring importance of the daily comic strip with MUTTS: Sunday Funnies Volumes 1 and 2, by Patrick McDonnell. For more than three decades, McDonnell has followed the lives of Mooch the cat, Earl the dog, and their world to explore kindness, responsibility, and how people treat one another and the animals in their care.

As Dune returns to the screen, Dune Messiah Book 1: A Graphic Novel Adaptation arrives at exactly the right moment. With a new Dune feature film releasing this year and HBO’s Dune: Prophecy continuing on television, the world of Arrakis is once again everywhere. This comic gives readers a way to stay inside that world while the film and series are playing out.

Alongside the Abrams ComicArts releases, the Fall 2026 season features a major slate of manga through the Kana imprint. Before Dawn and the End of the World, a manga anthology by Inio Asano, brings together previously untranslated short comics spanning the early and middle years of his career. Collected in a single volume, the book offers readers a rare look at Asano’s range beyond his longer series.

The manga lineup continues with Jagaaan Volume 1, a manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro with art by Kensuke Nishida. Graphic, unsettling, and psychologically charged, the book follows a disaffected police officer whose violent fantasies collide with a sudden outbreak of monstrous transformations across the city. The release kicks off a fourteen-volume series long requested by English-language readers.

“This season is a vivid celebration of everything that drives our passion for comics and manga,” said Joseph Montagne, Publisher of Abrams ComicArts. “These graphic novels burst with the limitless creativity of the medium—proving just how much comics can inspire, challenge, and connect us. It’s truly an honor to bring such a dynamic collection of stories together in one remarkable season.”

31086955490?profile=RESIZE_192XArriving this September is FIXATION #1, a chilling cat-and-mouse thrill ride from writer Amy Chase (Newburn) and artist Savanna Mayer (RETURN TO SLEEPY HOLLOW) which blends true crime tension and thrills with razor-sharp commentary on fandom and toxic addictions. When superfan Taylor Van Owens and her best friend win a contest to stay at the iconic house from their favorite hit vampire book-turned-movie franchise, the two expect a weekend getaway that will live up to every fangirls’ dream, especially with fans descending on the town and the cast reuniting to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the movie. But a young woman was found dead inside the house, and the killer’s taste for blood isn’t finished. The killer is ready to paint the town red to make sure they’ll go down in the franchise’s history. Everyone has a motive, and the most dangerous person in the room isn’t always who it seems…

"The titillation of being transgressive, of breaking laws and norms, of acting out and letting our more dangerous and wild selves take over is probably something everyone has felt at some point in their lives, so we all in some way can understand the allure of the outlaw,” said Senior Group Editor Jake Thomas. “But we are also hardwired to want order and justice, so we root for the hero to take down the villain. That's why all my very sweet and sensible wife's favorite TV shows involve murder, that's part of why we named our kid after the great crime writer Dashiell Hammett, and that's why I'm excited to be developing this new crime line at IDW. No other genre explores the warring impulses of humanity like crime, but it's also a genre built on tension, pacing, character work, and crackerjack storytelling, all elements that are elemental to comics and build truly rip-roaring yarns."

The launch titles from the IDW CRIME imprint are all three issue limited series, each one 40+ pages for only $4.99 USD. Contact a comic shop near you to pre-order the debut issues of SEVEN WIVES, KILLER INFLUENCES, and FIXATION.

31084189701?profile=RESIZE_400xFEBRUARY 6, 2026—Abrams ComicArts and Marvel Comics are excited to announce the publication of Marvel Dimensions, an all-new graphic novel written and illustrated by Alex Ross that twists the Marvel Universe in ways readers have never seen before. This follows Ross’ award-winning national bestseller, Fantastic Four: Full Circle, and brings an entirely new kind of storytelling to the growing Marvel Arts line. It will be edited by Charles Kochman, editor-in-chief of Abrams ComicArts and Ross’ longtime editor.

Marvel Dimensions opens with a sweeping tour through the classic origins of Marvel’s most iconic characters. Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Wolverine, and many others appear in dramatic, fully painted spreads that echo their earliest stories. A narrator describes each moment with confidence, guiding the reader through these touchstones of Marvel’s history. But as the story moves forward, the tone begins to shift. The voice behind the narration is not who the readers expect and carries a motive that slowly pushes the narrative somewhere darker and far more unpredictable.

Once this change becomes clear, the book expands into something larger and more surprising. Storylines twist in on themselves, characters behave in unexpected ways, and events ripple across the Marvel Universe with growing tensions. Ross uses the structure of the book to create anticipation and pull the reader deeper into a mystery that keeps widening. Every new sequence reveals another layer, building toward a final act that reframes everything that came before it. A bonus 32-page comic book is included that is pivotal to the storyline.

The Marvel Arts line was created by Abrams ComicArts and Marvel Comics to give creators room to experiment with structure, format, and the visual language of superhero comics.

Marvel Dimensions shows how far that creative space can reach. Ross draws from across the Marvel Universe, including the Human Torch, Captain America, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Black Panther, Phoenix, Wolverine, and the Avengers, building a story that feels both classic and completely new.

Other books in the Marvel Arts line include the aforementioned Fantastic Four: Full Circle by Alex Ross; The Super Hero’s Journey by Patrick McDonnell; The Avengers in the Veracity Trap! by Chip Kidd and Michael Cho; X-Men-Elsewhen Volume 1 by John Byrne; Thor: Behemoth of the Black Moon by Eric Powell; and Doctor Strange: Endless Nightmare by Kevin J. Anderson, Raúl Allén, and Patricia Martín.

Ross’ long relationship with Marvel includes Marvels, the Earth X trilogy, and a vast body of cover art that has shaped how generations visualize these characters. With Marvel Dimensions, Ross approaches the Marvel Universe from a new angle with new character invention that invites readers to question what they think and what they know. Marvel Dimensions may be the latest title in the Marvel Arts line…but it is only the beginning.

“This is my longest work to date that I have written and drawn myself,” explains Alex Ross. “Dimensions is like a combination of my most famous works, Marvels and Kingdom Come, where my love of comics history and ambitious world-building collide.”

“It goes without saying that Alex is a once-in-a-generation artist and a storytelling master, and this book showcases that on all fronts,” shared C.B. Cebulski, Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief. “We’re thrilled to continue working with Abrams and Alex to bring his vision and legendary talent to the page, and we can’t wait for fans to dive into the masterpiece he’s created.”

Marvel Dimensions will arrive from Abrams ComicArts in September 2026 and is available for preorder now. A limited quantity of advance copies will be available at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2026. Readers can find updates and further details at AbramsComicArts.com and AlexRossArt.com.
