Eh, none of this surprises me at all. I will say that I've never seen any hint of inappropriate satire between Captain America and Bucky. To me this is Wertham effect--he's the one that wrote that Batman and Robin lived in a "homosexual paradise" and I think that's what's made them ripe for satire since.
It's an old joke and an old cliche. Any "buddy" pairing can be viewed the same way.
...To be blunt , too , Philp , Cap was off the stands by the time Wertham publsihed his book ( It was before the brief 50s revival , wasn't it ????? ) , and , until the last five-ish years , Captain America , from the time of his 60s revival , had ALWAYS been Bucky-free ( The briefest couple-issue plotlines aside . ) - And I'm rather of the opinion that Winter Soldier is NOT Bucky Barnes , but some late-WWII urchin that a Cosmic Code offshoot swiped from the streets of Liverpool or Milan or Brussels or whatever and brainwashed (and changed his physical attributes - and , yes , accent) and generally arranged things so that the entire world could be fooled that he was the actual person Bucky Barnes !!!!!!!!!
