I just put together the order that will carry me through the next couple of years.
I've ordered stories of the 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 12th and War Doctors among others.
I posted that back in January of '22 and I have just received the last of that order last week. When I first started listening to Big finish, I concentrated primarily on the Eighth Doctor. When I finally accumulated all of his audio adventures, I branched out to the Sixth and others. In addition to the Doctors, I got a bit carried away ordering many other EU characters and companions, such as the Master, Missy, Rose Tyler, Charlotte Pollard, Lucie Miller, River Song, Jenny, Gallifrey, the Time War... the list goes on. Just look at all the series I posted on the previous page (most of which I did not order). I haven't placed an order since the one mentioned above, January '22. In the time I've been away, the Fugative Doctor as well as Jodie Whittaker's 13th Doctor have both gotten their own audio series. I see from the previous page that Jo Martin's Fugitive Doctor was first announced on April 23, 2023. That set is now out. Note, too, that the 60th anniversary set was announced on June 1, 2023. That one is out, too.
The most frustrating thing about these sets is that it takes months, sometimes years, to complete. As with comic books, I prefer the collected editions. At this point, the eighth anf final part of "Once and Future" came out this month, and I just ordered it today. Read this: "To mark Doctor Who's 60th anniversary in 2023, Big finish created Once and Future, a seven-part adventure featuring the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Doctors--with cameos from others. In 2024, the story is given a final part, Coda--The Final Act, which is set during the Time War." It pits the Fugative Doctor against the War Doctor, and I can hardly wait.
I sent an e-mail to Big Finish's Vortex magazine (at least five years ago, now), it was printed and Nick Briggs replied something to the effect that it "got his gears turning" or somesuch. You know I'm going to be ordering this one!

Hopefully they give you a credit for the idea. At the very least a free copy
Oh, I don't know about that. I admit it would be nice (and may they did during the months I was away), but part one came out some time ago and I just found out about part two when it popped into my YouTube feed today. The best I am hoping for is that maybe someone said something along the lines of "This story was suggested by a fan" on the interview portion of the CD. Even if they did try to send me a free copy, I'm pretty sure I sent the e-mail via an old account. Big Finish did a really nice set of The Last Adventure (of the Sixth Doctor) which explained how he actually came to regenerate beyond (and much more satisfying than) what was shown on TV. I suggested something similar for the Seventh Doctor to embellish what was shown in the TV movie. I'm pretty sure there's a discussion of it somewhere on this board, but I looked around for it a bit earlier and couldn't find it.
The Last Adventure [of the Sixth Doctor]
The Sixth Doctor, my least favorite Doctor overall, is my third most favorite (behind the Eighth Doctor and the War Doctor) on audio. Like the other…
I found out some more about "The Last Day" from Vortex #177 (Nov 2023):
"AT THE start of the Doctor Who TV Movie in 1996, the Seventh Doctor collected the Master’s mortal remains after he was executed by the Daleks on Skaro. But what was the situation that led up to those events? Who sent the Doctor, of all people, on that mission? Now, it’s time to find out in a 12-part epic tale, The Seventh Doctor – The Last Day, which will be told over two box sets. Sylvester McCoy is joined by a host of familiar faces in a story that leads into the events of his regeneration"
That was pretty much the plot I suggested in my e-mail. the article goes on...
"Vortex brought together the story’s writers for a lengthy chat earlier this year. Guy [Adams] says: 'When we started talking about Dark Universe, we wanted to feature the Eleven and lead into the Seventh Doctor’s final adventure, so we knew that we were always going to make The Last Day. I actually think the idea for The Last Day was something that existed before Dark Universe. I remember us having a meeting, in the old Big Finish office in London, when we sat and discussed it all.' Matt [Fitton] confirms: 'Dark Universe was storylined and written round about the second half of 2018 and the beginning of 2019. I think the earliest storylines I’ve got for The Last Day are dated 2019. It took a long time to get to that point as we’d been talking about it for months and months beforehand.'
OH MY GOSH! Keying off what Matt Fitton said above, I started looking at online pdfs of Vortex magazines and my e-mail was in the first one I looked at (#119 JAN 2019).
I really enjoyed The Last Adventure, but how about a ‘last adventure’ for the Seventh Doctor? At the beginning of the TV Movie, the Doctor is returning from Skaro with the remains of the Master after his trial. According to the novelization of the movie, the Dalek Emperor staged a mock trial of the Master before exterminating him. The Master contacted the Doctor telepathically and begged him to retrieve his body. This scenario simply begs to be fleshed out in an audio. What did the Master do to anger the Daleks? Why did the Doctor agree to honour the Master’s wishes? How did he manage to do so without getting captured or killed himself?
JEFF PLACKEMEIER
And here is Nick Briggs' reply:
No plans to answer these questions any time soon, Jeff. But you’re right, they are fascinating questions. That noise you can hear is the sound of my brain ticking over and considering this!
Now I know I discussed this on the board before sending the e-mail, because of my reference to the Doctor Who movie novelization which I do not own and have not read. I wanted to make sure all my bases were covered so I checked here, and I believe it was Jeff Polier who supplied the answer IIRC.
It's from the Doctor Who Movie discussion. That discussion was from 2011 so it wasn't in reaction to my having recently listenied to "The Last Adventure," but rather something that had come up before and I had simply remembered. Here is what he had to say:
In the novelization of the movie, The Master is brought before the Dalek Emperor. They were apparently ticked off enough at The Master to give him a "trial" (already guilty on all counts) before exterminating him. The Master shared this with the Doctor telepathically and begged the Doctor to retrieve his body. The Doctor, sentimental fool that he sometimes is, does sneak onto Skaro just long enough to grab the body and scamper off. Oh, Doctor. If only you'd left the Master's body there to rot.
It will be interesting to discover how much of this scenario (if anything) Guy Adams and Matt Fitton retained for "The Last Day."
Doctor Who Reactions: "Doctor Who" (SPOILERS)
1)I always had my doubts about the Daleks putting the Master on trial - surely, if they decided he'd done them any dirt they'd just exterminate them?…

Once and Future: CODA
HOLY CRAP! I think THIS is the story I suggested!
