  • For those not familiar with the term , "redundancies" translates to "layoffs" in American usage.

  • Don't you love these flashy terms corporate America comes up with to make something not very good sound not so bad?

  • Actually it's not a corporate American tern. It's a British word for layoffs.

  • Like discharged instead of s***canned or fired ;)
  • I find it highly unusual that DC comics publicity should be QUOTED as using the word "redundancies" as if it was in a press release. It is far more likely that they would have said, there are no plans for "layoffs" if the source was truly from the U.S.
That makes me very suspicious of the whole topic/report. (But I could be wrong...)

  • According to the Bleeding Cool News "about" page, it is headquartered in London, so the writer Rich Johnston either tinkered with the quote for his readers or DC Comics has a British PR person that he contacted. I'm pretty sure the British public looks at the word redundant with the same feeling the U.S. public looks at the word layoff.

  • Actually, the Karen Berger item is yesterday's news! Apparently today something entirely different (and likely just as awful) is/has happened.

  • Actually, Paul Levitz made a comment on Facebook yesterday about having known and enjoyed working with Ms. Berger for 30 years at DC.

Didn't think much of it at the time except that maybe she was approaching an anniversary.

    But now...

  • So is Karen Berger leaving the only thing that happened? I can't find any "big news" anywhere about DC other than that.

  • I haven't uncovered it yet either. Bleeding Cool seems to be the only one reporting a bunch of all-hands-on-deck meetings for yesterday (again, a day after Berger's departure).

Even the comments on the two stories Rich Johnston published are saying "What the F---? What happened?" And Bleeding Cool is not saying a thing. Although there is this.

I can only assume that there ultimately was no news -- or at least any sensational news worth reporting to the fan press. Maybe they just needed to talk health insurance, United Way contributions and plans for this year's Secret Santa.
