This seems like big news: Booster Gold and Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) will be showing up in the Giffen/DeMatteis-written Justice League 3000. And apparently, they'll be as they were pre-Countdown, what with Ted getting shot in the noggin and all. This looks like the first crack in the New 52, bringing old characters from old realities back.

This could make some people very happy..and it really makes me wonder, what the heck will be going on with DC come April and May and beyond?

  • I was very upset when Maxwell Lord murdered Ted Kord ("my" Blue Beetle) and am glad to hear his character will be returning. I also am glad about Booster Gold, who was an interesting concept.

Since his Nu52 book was cancelled, is the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle still an active character in current books?

  • Booster got his sister back because he was out of the normal time flow in his series, maybe this is that sort of case too.

  • I haven't seen him for a while. He was a recurring character in the short-lived sci-fi book Theshhold, and then...? Anyone know if he ever got back from outer space? (With/without a sad look upon his face?)

  • I think we'll get some clues to what all this meansin the Booster Gold: Futures End one-shot...on sale either this week or next.

  • Giffen said that this is the real Booster and Beetle. No fake-outs. He also said that this is a world where Ted Kord wasn't shot through the head. What excites me to no end is that this opens a door that is better than the Pre-DCNu. (As much as I hate the DCNu, I hate the Pre-DCNu about 75% as much.)

The world opened by this development possibly contains a universe where Identity Crisis never happened. It opens a world with Ralph and Sue Dibney, a Max Lord who is a businessman but isn't evil, maybe even a world with a more rotund Amanda Waller, and (dare I hope?) a world with Tim Drake as the proper third Robin.

I would love all the people who seem to love the DCNu to no end to have their cake, but I would also like to be able to eat the old DCU too. (Old-DC haters don't need to read this world...but I get the feeling they will and they will gripe about it! Looking forward to ignoring them.)

Wait... are you saying there's a crossover with Galactus???

  • He's saying he is Galactus. "Wandering Sensei" is an anagram of "Wandering, I sense [food]." And is it a coincidence that we also know him as "Jupiter"? I think not. What more natural non de plume for Galactus to assume?

The reason so many alien races attempt to invade Earth is Galactus has sworn not to eat it, making it a highly desirable property. Galactus keeps tabs on who has tried to invade Earth via the internet and then traces the races involved back to their home systems. Then he winds down by browsing cooking sites and shooting the breeze about those Earth heroes he's encountered.

In Fantastic Four Valeria should get a gig writing an interplanetary newsletter on which sectors in space Galactus is in. She could tell her parents she was now the Herald of Galactus.

  • Ha! I love this. And yes, I guess I am growing in godlike proportions, not only in terms of ego, but in terms of hungers as well.

  • I love that there are still some here who were a part of the old "Captain Comics Cave". I have to think that "Jupiter" is no coincidence. He and my gassy storms and my many moons...

Seriously, I am so excited for this "new" (old) universe. No matter how many titles it encompasses (one or five, I could care less), I am thrilled that these characters exist in a way I could never have imagined.

  • ALMOST as excited as I am to think that the Captain Comics Cave of ten years ago exists in some form...
