The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund has release "Working With Libraries! A Handbook For Comics Creators." This booklet explains ways for comics creators to gain advantage in having their works selected by librarians.

  • I've never worked in a school library, so I can't really speak to that section. But I've been in public libraries for many years, and worked in academic libraries for the first decade of my career. The booklet does a great job describing how those libraries work: it's all true. I'm delighted that Jeff Smith wrote the introduction, because he was one of the pioneers in the comics community who began doing outreach to libraries. Libraries are quite open to comics nowadays, but it's a relatively recent development.
