Coffee!

Since there's a beer and soda thread, I decided to start a coffee thread. I think there's quite a few of us that enjoy this hot (sometimes cold) beverage.

I have a Keurig coffee maker which is great for a single guy. There's not an abundance of coffee selection but it's steadily growing. My favorites are the Caribou Daybreak and the donut shop.

I am a fan of Starbucks. My favorite thing from there is their cafe' latte.

Today though I was visiting the local craft beer store and bought some new coffee. That's right, coffee at the beer store. It is Terrapin Wake-n-bake and it is good. I don't get the chocolate notes or anything like it. It's just a really good cup of coffee. Fortuanetly my roommate has a coffee grinder and a regular coffee pot. It's around $11 for a can but it's worth it.

So what kind of coffee do you guys like?

  • Actually, I don't drink coffee, but since you put this in the "Comics Discussions" sections, I will try to tie it into comics by saying that I really enjoy Shannon Wheeler's Too Much Coffee Man.
  • Oops! I forgot that there's a drop down menu to choose the category for the thread. Is there a moderator that can move it?
  • Hasn't been moved yet, but I'm a major coffee hound, so I'll chip in. I'm not a Starbucks fan: they over-roast everything. Might as well just call everything French Roast. It does stand up well to milk in a cappuccino, though, so I still like those if I'm at Starbucks. I grind whole beans fresh, but that doesn't mean you have to spend a fortune (especially now, while I'm unemployed). I really like Trader Joe's coffe selection if there's one near you. Their cheapest beans, Joe and Joe Dark, make a good basic cup, and they carry a wide range above that at competitive prices. Eight O'Clock is good too. I actually prefer their Original blend to the Columbian, and the French Roast is a good dark roast.
  • Eight O'Clock is good! I haven't had it in a while. I noticed today when I was at the store that they've changed the bags for the coffee.

I haven't been to a Trader Joe's but I hear great things about them.

  • Every Christmas, Easter, or birthday, Dolores or one of the kids gets me a Starbuck's card for about $25.  The nearest store is about forty-five miles away, so I don't get there often, but it's always a treat.
