SUPERMAN: THE KRYPTONITE SPECTRUM HC (MR)
(W) W. Maxwell Prince (A/CA) Martin Morazzo
THE MIND-BENDING SERIES FROM THE TEAM THAT BROUGHT YOU THE ICE CREAM MAN! Superman faces his own worst weakness in a story where Kryptonite reveals more than just physical pain. From the acclaimed creative team behind Ice Cream Man, this DC Black Label event bends genre, tone, and form as Superman is exposed to not only green, red, and black Kryptonite — but new and never-before-seen forms like purple, cobalt and speckled. Each of the five issues serves as a boundary-pushing meditation on power, identity and trauma. With Batman at his side and Earth at stake, Superman must confront how the shards of his broken homeworld reveal fault lines in his soul. Includes SUPERMAN: THE KRYPTONITE SPECTRUM #1-5.
I've been picking up most of the Black Label books, so I'll get this one too — provided the Legionnaires don't give it a thumbs down. To tell you the truth, I've never been able to divine what this book is about. Is it a horror story? A philosophical meditation? A modern imaginary story? A fever dream? I guess I'll find out.

- And more!
“I’ve been waiting fifty years to write this book,” Brad Meltzer shared. “Superman and Spider-Man have affected me more than most real people. I carry them with me everywhere — and our story cuts to the core of what it means to be a good person. I’m honored that Nick Lowe and everyone at Marvel even asked. Just wait until you see Pepe’s work. Get your capes and web-shooters ready …”
"Everyone here at Marvel is excited to be re-teaming with our friends at DC for another colossal crossover, this time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our two icons, Spider-Man and Superman, first teaming up!” Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski added. “I can't wait for fans of every generation to read these spectacular stories that our titanic talent are telling, featuring all-new, easily accessible stories about the ever-growing Spider-Man and Superman families meeting for the first time."
"Spider-Gwen and Supergirl both represent different kinds of strengths and powers, but they're united by their compassion and resilience,” Phillips shared. “I really loved the chance to let these heroes save the day together and have fun doing it. And Phil Noto on art just takes it to another level - Kara, Gwen, and I are lucky to have him!"
“How often do you get to land on the moon? Travel back in time? Be a part of history? That's what it was like when Marvel asked me to be part of Spider-Man/Superman!” Jeph Loeb said. “It's a short story that I'd like to think connects emotionally with Spider-Man: Blue and Superman for All Seasons. Then, the most incredible part is that the incomparable Jim Cheung is illustrating the story giving it the perfect feel! See you there!”
Obviously, this is the big book of the week. I read the DC edition already, as well as the two Batman/Deadpool team-ups. I was entertained, so I'll get this one, too. Here are some of the variant covers and preview pages:
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: SPIDER-VERSITY (2026) #1
WRITER: Jordan Morris
PENCILLER: Pere Perez
COVER ARTIST: Giuseppe Camuncoli
All your favorite webheads will band together in a brand-new way this April in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: SPIDER-VERSITY! Announced earlier today at IGN, the five-issue limited series will be written by Jordan Morris (Predator: Bloodshed) and Joe Kelly (Amazing Spider-Man) and drawn by artist Pere Perez (Amazing Spider-Man: Torn).
Spinning directly out of Kelly’s hit run of Amazing Spider-Man, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: SPIDER-VERSITY sees Norman Osborn take various Spider-heroes under his wing to train them against a deadly incoming threat — himself! Following up on Norman’s heroic turn as Spider-Man — as well as his looming descent back to madness — and bringing the entire Spider-family together as a united front, the series is an essential chapter in the lead-up to AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000, the mega milestone issue coming later this year.
LEARNING TO CRAWL!
Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Silk, Araña, Spider-Boy and Spider-Girl have one thing in common — THEY AREN’T READY. According to former Resolute Spider-Man Norman Osborn. So he and Spider-Woman are going to train them to meet the next threat — the only way the Green Goblin knows how. Because the next threat might well BE the Green Goblin!
On how the Spider-heroes react to their new mentor, Morris told IGN, "The younger Spiders all have their own take. Some of them are stoked, some are more wary (specifically the ones Norman has killed before). To a certain extent, they’re all students of Pete. Even the ones who haven’t trained with him specifically see him as a role-model. Since Pete has forgiven Norman, the other Spiders are willing to give him a chance. Even though certain members of the team are more prickly, they all share the try-and-see-the-best-in-people ethos that is so important to Pete."
"Spider-Versity spins directly out of the events of Amazing Spider-Man,” Kelly added. “Norman has a definitive threat in mind that he's trying to protect the young Spiders against. One he knows intimately. But even for a master planner like Norman, things may perhaps go awry, and the kids will face some unexpected threats. Nothing like learning on the job!"
I haven't followed the saga of Norman Osborn's redemption, and if I had, maybe I'd find it more plausible than I do. But jeepers, I spent much of the '60s waiting for the amnesiac Osborn to remember he was the Goblin — and that the knew Spider-Man's secret identity! It was a clever time bomb, with Osborn's every appearance leaving the reader with that "Oh, no" feeling in the pit of his or her stomach. (And it eventually paid off with the death of Gwen Stacy.) When I see a modern story such as this, I get much the same feeling. Will they go back to that well again? (Of course they will.)
BTW, I get the premise of this book, which is to give all the Spider-people who aren't named Peter Parker a home. But I'd think MIles Morales would have long since "graduated" from this sort of "school." Maybe he's a T.A.

A CAPTAIN CORNERED ON THE ROAD TO ARMAGEDDON! After discovering how far Salvation's TRUE LATVERIA insurgency is willing to go for power, Captain America goes rogue, throwing in with the LATVERIAN LIBERATORS to take down Salvation before he can become the next Doctor Doom. But Salvation is prepared for Steve's next attack, and his new ploy has heartbreaking consequences for the team…
I'm reading both this book and Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon, both of which lead to, of course, "Armageddon." I can't say I'm thrilled with either. I'm still not sure what "Armageddon" is about, but if the lead-up doesn't improve, this "event" may be a trade-waiter.

CORPSE KNIGHT #1 (OF 6)
(W) Michael Chaves (A/CA) Matthew Roberts, Rico Renzi
MINISERIES PREMIERE As war ravages France, a young girl named Foy lives in relative peace with her father ... until tragedy strikes. As Foy struggles to fend for herself, she’s granted a miracle — her father returns from the dead to protect her. Now, they embark on a sacred quest, confronting murderers, wild animals, wandering armies, and black magic plaguing the countryside. As Foy comes face to face with the dark side of miracles and the secrets of the Corpse Knight, she must question if the man by her side has always been a monster. ... Acclaimed storytellers MICHAEL CHAVES (The Conjuring franchise) and MATTHEW ROBERTS (Universal Monsters: Creature from The Black Lagoon Lives!) present a haunting new horror series where family is family, whether they’re alive or undead …
I'm a sucker for weird period pieces, and will definitely try this. I can't wait to find out which war it is! (Probably the the Hundred Years War, given the late medieval armor, but they may surprise me. Or, they may not use real history at all.)
IN YOUR SKIN #1 (OF 4) CVR A SOM (MR)
Bollywood body horror meets erotic fiction in writer Aditya Bidikar's debut series with rising star artist SOM (Crocodile Black) titled, In Your Skin. This twisted four-issue miniseries is set to launch in April from Image Comics.
Popverse revealed an exclusive first look at the series yesterday.
The series will also feature eye-popping variant covers by superstar artists Maria Llovet (Crave, Artificial), Tula Lotay (Supreme: Blue Rose), Anand RK (Blue in Green), and more.
"In Your Skin combines my love for body horror and my fascination with the glamorous world of Bollywood," said Bidikar. "Backed by the incredible Tiny Onion team, Som and I are thrilled to present a story that’s never been seen before in comics."
Priyanka is a Bollywood uber-fan who has been obsessed with film star Ayesha Sen since she was a kid — she's watched her movies over and over, and knows her dances beat for beat. But after a once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet her idol goes awry, and Ayesha announces her impending retirement from movies, Priyanka decides that if Ayesha isn't going to live the life she's supposed to, Priyanka would be more than happy to take over for her …
SOM added: "In Your Skin feels like a mirror that refuses to flatter. Body horror is not just an adornment but a tool for the biography of mutating ambitions in the seductive world of Bollywood, pairing the mundane with the grotesque. To have Tiny Onion back the project was massively reassuring! Hope this book scares and charms you in equal measure!"
In Your Skin promises readers an exploration of celebrity culture, identity, and image that's perfect for fans of The Substance and David Cronenberg.
The Bollywood setting certainly sets this apart from the usual Single, White Female/Black Swan territory. I'll definitely take a look.

GI JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO SSSILENT MISSIONS COPPERHEAD #1 (ONE SHOT)
An all-new one-shot debuting for Skybound’s Silent Missions month.
Made by renowned writer and artist Howard Porter (JLA) and colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr. (The Amazing Spider-Man), this issue arrives in comic book shops on April 22.
The face of comic books changed forever when G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #21 introduced fans to the “Silent Interlude,” an action-packed story with no dialogue. This April, Silent Missions Month returns for a second year, but with a new twist: the focus turns to Cobra as its most lethal members take center stage in a new series of silent, high-stakes stories, featuring superstar creators.
Strap in with Howard Porter for a swamp death race that’s too fast and too fatal for the fearless COPPERHEAD to turn down. Unfortunately, his competition isn't going to let anyone stop them from winning!
In addition to the main cover by Howard Porter & Romulo Fajardo Jr., the lineup of variant covers includes an open to order cover by Jorge Fornés (Rorschach), a 1:10 incentive black and white version of Porter’s cover, and the continuation of 1:25 incentive foil letter cover series by Fornés, ultimately spelling COBRA.
G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Sssilent Missions - Copperhead #1 is the fourth of five all-new Silent Missions one-shots, each releasing on a Wednesday this April, from an elite assembly of talent including Gabriel Hardman, Jöelle Jones & Declan Shalvey, Pat Olliffe & Tom DeFalco, Howard Porter, and Jorge Fornés.
HEAD LOPPER #1 (2026)
(W/A/CA) Andrew Maclean
Longtime Head Lopper fans will have something to celebrate this Spring with the highly anticipated return of Andrew MacLean’s beloved adventure comic. An all-new story arc of the ongoing series will kick off with an extra-length issue in April from Image Comics — just in time to mark the 10 year anniversary of its original launch.
MacLean’s masterclass in kinetic action and dark humor will be on full display in Head Lopper (2026) #1. Witness Norgal behead mythic beasts while his chatty, severed-witch-head companion, Agatha, provides relentless sass. It’s visually stunning, high-fantasy carnage that proves decapitation is better with company.
"Narschlahn is calling me back! It’s been a decade of Head Lopper, and yet, the world feels more alive with every stroke of the pen," said MacLean. "Huge thanks to Image Comics for their incredible support of this relaunch. This new chapter is the perfect entry point for new readers, while rewarding veterans with a story that picks up right after the original series' finale."
MacLean recently appeared on an episode of the Let's Talk Comics podcast to discuss the long-running series and tease the future story arc.
NO MAN'S LAND TP
Szymon Kudrański's popular No Man's Land thriller miniseries published by Image Comics is currently in development for a film with producer Jason Berman's A/Vantage Pictures (Spike Lee's Highest 2 Lowest), as well as Kudrański and Jon Levin's Sustainable Imagination (All the Empty Rooms), according to The Hollywood Reporter scoop.
No Man's Land is a high-stakes murder mystery perfect for fans of True Detective, Whiteout, and Insomnia. For three months each year, anyone can walk from the USA to Russia across an ice bridge: a frozen path known as the Ice Curtain. In 1963, when the body of a young woman is discovered on this icy no-man's land, the already fragile relationship between the superpowers threatens to collapse. With nuclear tensions rising, an FBI agent and a KGB operative must solve the murder before the ice melts... and war ignites.
No Man's Land is created, written, and illustrated by the much-celebrated Kudrański (Spawn, Action Comics, The Punisher), edited by Tom Williams, lettered by Dc Hopkins, and is under Kudrański’s One Man Art line, his fully independent creative banner where he creates and produces his own original works. No Man’s Land is the third solo series in a growing slate of Kudrański's creator-owned titles that includes Something Epic and Blood Commandment.
“High concept ideas work in any medium, for Image Comics we are constantly looking for new ideas and stories that will grab a reading audience early and then hold them through the telling of the story arc," Todd McFarlane, President of Image Comics and creator of Spawn. "And now, to learn that No Man's Land will now get developed for a future theatrical release reinforces the talent level of Szymon and makes him yet another example of creators owning and controlling their own destinies.”
Select praise for No Man's Land:
"An outstanding high-concept." — CBR
"The best book of Kudranski's career—one of the best books of the year." — Pop Culture Philosophers
"An exciting, compelling murder mystery with plenty of twists and turns." — Comic Culture

These UFOs are actually the Xilien invasion force! FRANKENSTEIN: NEW WORLD — THE SPEED OF DARKNESS #1 (OF 4)
Called by Liz Sherman in visions to save the new world, Frankenstein and Lilja begin using Vril energy to try and find her. But the earth is being corrupted by a parasitic and powerful evil, and their time to stop it is running out.
This third miniseries of Frankenstein: New World features the return of creative team Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden, Thomas Sniegoski, Peter Bergting, Michelle Madsen, and Clem Robins taking readers to a future as dangerous as it is enchanting, from the world of Hellboy.
I read the first miniseries, skimmed the second. This version of Frankenstein's monster has little to do with any other iteration. If it weren't for the title, you wouldn't know the protagonist was Frankenstein's monster at all. Especially given the world he lives in, which is itself the monster of the series. Frankenstein — that's what he goes by — seems to have gotten over all his trauma, and is calm, thoughtful and somewhat reluctant to act. Honestly, I don't find him very interesting, and the post-human world is just another forgettable post-apocalypse. YMMV.
THE CROWN: A TALE OF HELL #2 (OF 2)
The demon brothers’ fight for control of Pandemonium gets even messier when their sister joins in with her own ideas for the future of Hell.
Mike Mignola is joined by his brother Todd Mignola (“Hellboy: The Exorcist of Vorsk”) and artist Warwick Johnson-Cadwell (Our Encounters with Evil) in this new Hellboy prequel series.
Longtime Mignola collaborator Warwick Johnson-Cadwell joins the Hellboy universe!
Brothers Mike and Todd Mignola pen this story about Hellboy’s brothers!
This prequel is also set in the Hellboy universe, and has some Mignola involvement, which lifts it in my estimation. Just the same, I have my reservations — mainly that we know how this story ends (Hellboy dies! Nobody is King of Hell! The B.P.R.D. fails! The frogs win!), so there's no real suspense. I tend to read these kinds of stories anyway, because I tend to read anything that Mike Mignola has touched. But I'm not sure what the point is any more.

VAMPIRELLA (2026) #1
(W) Christopher Priest (A) Davis Goetten (CA) Lucio Parrillo
Vampirella invites fans to bite into her next "season" of scintillating stories this coming April from industry icon Christopher Priest (Justice League, Superman Lost) and artist Davis Goetten. This next chapter in the ongoing epic going on over half a decade starts in Vampirella #1, intended as a convenient jumping-on point for new and returning readers.
The Daughter of Drakulon isn't the only such fearsome blood-sucker from the planet and family legacy. Her sister Draculina has recently lost her Vampiri powers, as well as the baby she wrested away from Vampirella. Now shackled with humanity, her already fragile psyche risks shattering when her thirst for blood unexpectedly creeps back. Confronted with the prospect of once again being consumed by the evil appetites that had controlled her for centuries, she sets out on a desperate quest to break the patterns of her past and find new answers — or die trying! And how does Vampirella herself factor into these next chapters?
Christopher Priest continues his critically acclaimed and signature approach to the franchise known as the longest running vampire comic book. Priest stands as the creator with the longest continuous un with Vampirella, cresting over 90 issues going back to 2019 with the franchise. The character also marches onwards to a historic issue #700. With the legacy numbering, this new Vampirella #1 also functions as #688. The major milestone is just about a year away! Dynamite can't wait to celebrate that event with fans who have been with the character over five decades, or are getting to know her in this very issue.
This new debut issue features ravishingly riveting variants from superstars Lucio Parrillo, Derrick Chew, Joseph Michael Linsner, Elias Chatzoudis, as well as a cosplay cover from model Rachel Hollon.
Additionally, collectors can check out some exciting premium mystery blind bags for the issue. These bags contain three limited edition variants of the issue, selected randomly from a large range exclusive to it.
I've been meaning to catch up with this series ever since Christopher Priest started writing it. But I'm not sure when that was, or even if it's been collected. (In the Golden Age of Reprints, just wait and let the publisher put things in order for you!) Well, I know there's Christopher Priest goodness a-waiting, so I'll try this one and see if it really is a jumping-on point.

The second volume of this six-part collection of annotated, never-before-seen sketches by Prince Valiant creator Hal Foster continues the series’ project of revealing in intimate detail the act of creating this landmark comic strip. Part sketchbooks, part biography, part tutorial, part memoir — Hal Foster’s Prince Valiant Sketchbooks are an unprecedented revelation of Foster’s personal life and creative process during his final nine years on the strip, as well as a fascinating look behind the curtains as Foster coached and interacted with his chosen successor: John Cullen Murphy. Beautifully, meticulously designed and produced with the full participation of the Murphy family, this series is a testament to author and Prince Valiant historian Brian M. Kane’s research prowess and determination to bring Foster’s aesthetic and storytelling strategies to light. Over the course of these volumes, Kane annotates with painstaking clarity and thoroughness 366 penciled layout pages, 40 character sketches, and 577 text pages of Foster’s descriptions of each panel. Also featured are an additional 143 pieces of art, mostly by Foster, 100 photographs detailing his life and career, and 123 personal letters and notes, all adding immeasurably to this exploration of Foster’s life and art, as well as his collaboration with Murphy.
I love Hal Foster, and I love Prince Valiant. But I don't need six volumes of BTS stuff.

MAD CAVE
PHANTOM VS. THE SKY BAND #1 (ONE-SHOT): I don't expect this to be any better than Dick Tracy, but I list this one-shot just the same. I wonder if today's writers even understand the appeal of these old pulp characters to us aging geezers, and if the characters have any appeal at all to modern audiences.

DIABLO HAS RETURNED TO THE PAGE ONCE MORE
Titan Comics are thrilled to have partnered with video game developer Blizzard and produce a new four issue series, DIABLO: DAWN OF HATRED — expanding on the lore of both the games and the previous comics.
Written by Cullen Bunn (Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe), drawn by Daniele Serra (Hellraiser Anthology), inked by Giusi Lo Piccolo, and colored by Jovanna Plata (The Black Monday Murders). The first issue features covers by Adam Gorham, Nick Marinknovich, Dev Pramanik, and Andrea Olimpieri.
Akarat, the ancient legend whose teachings spawned the Zakarum faith, has risen from death. He claims he has returned to spread peace, love, and the Light. His powers healed the leader of the Fox Tribe, and now the barbarians are amongst his most loyal followers. All but Derris. Though his people have sworn themselves to Akarat and the Light, Derris knows that the cycle of violence consumes Sanctuary sooner or later — an opinion shared by the mysterious Vrexia, another skeptic swept up in Akarat’s caravan. But when assassins come to slaughter Akakrat, Derris must either save the holy man…or watch his tribe be cut down.
Based on a video game, which means I know nothing about it. Nice preview, though.

UNEMPLOYED KILLERS SUPPORT GROUP
Author/artist: Rio
SC, 256pp, B&W, $12.99
Unemployed Killers Support Group is a razor-sharp, darkly hilarious noir-esque manga from Taiwanese creator Rio. This is not your average self-help group.
Locker Loyed, once a deadly sniper, lost his vision — and his job — on a mission gone wrong. Now, he’s joined an unlikely circle of former contract killers, each grappling with their own personal collapse. Among them: Gloria Maze, a meticulous assassin whose career imploded after catching her husband cheating and killing the mistress in a jealous rage; Jerry Cole, a justice-obsessed lawyer turned bloodthirsty executioner; and Jordi Joe, a delusional con man who’s never actually killed anyone.
As they try to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives, Locker begins to realize his past isn’t done with him. A dangerous figure—the one responsible for his blindness and a friend’s death — is still at large. And revenge is still on the table.
For fans of dark comedy, crime thrillers, and twisted found family, Unemployed Killers Support Group is a bold, bloody, and brilliantly offbeat ride through the lives of society’s most dangerous burnouts. Welcome to the group—check your conscience at the door.
The chances of me reading this are pretty close to zero, but I can't resist a trailer.

ROY THOMAS A LIFE IN FOUR COLORS 1940-1966 HC
(W) Roy Thomas (A) Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko (CA) Jerry Ordway
The man Stan Lee dubbed “Rascally Roy” and “Roy the Boy” tells the full, uncensored story of his emergence as one of the brightest stars in the Marvel Comics firmament! It's all here, starting with his Midwestern beginnings devouring the late, great Golden Age of Comics, to the glorious flowering of comics fandom during the first half of the 1960s (including the 1961 founding of Alter Ego and all that that first super-hero fanzine spawned). Roy details his brief and turbulent time as editorial assistant of DC’s “Superman” titles under Mort Weisinger, and the pivotal first year-plus of his career at Marvel, working with Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Romita, Bill Everett, and some of the brightest stars of the Marvel Age of Comics! Plus: you’ll have a ringside seat at some of the earliest comics conventions, and at the fateful 1965 New York Herald Tribune interview that caused a seismic rift between Lee and Kirby. This full-color hardcover is illustrated with rare and unseen art and behind-the-scenes photos from the dawn of the Silver Age of comics, so don’t delay! Buy it today —r ead it tomorrow — ’cause Roy’s already hard at work on the follow-up volume that covers the rest of his Marvel tenure, from 1967 to 1980! With a spectacular cover by Jerry Ordway.
Is this the first comprehensive Roy Thomas biography? It's about time! The man turns 86 this year. He was born the same year as John Lennon!

The Hydra of the Abyss calls to Soren, and the cost of victory may be higher than any of our heroes imagined.
Will they still be heroes when the dust settles?

ANIMAL MAN BY TOM VEITCH AND STEVE DILLON OMNIBUS HC: I think I have this.
I don't think so; this one's new. You probably have the one by Grant Morrison et al.
What I'd prefer is a collection of the Robin solo stories fron his Star-Spangled Comics run.
There were two volumes of Robin Archives, comprising his solo stories from Star Spangled Comics #65-105. You'll have to content yourself with those. (The stories are about as good as you'd expect.)
VAMPIRELLA (2026) #1
After we married in 1989, Gayle encouraged me to go back to the San Diego Con. This was before the movie industry hijacked it, so it was comparatively modest in size. As we approached, there was a girl of 15 or 16 dressed in Vampirella’s traditional costume. Gayle, amused, commented that she saw why I attended. I told her that when I previously attended the only woman there was Wendy Pini, and that she was married.
