T'CHALLA FIGHTS HIS WAY BACK TO THE WAKANDAN THRONE IN BLACK PANTHER: INTERGALACTIC!
BLACK PANTHER: INTERGALACTIC, a four-issue limited series by Victor LaValle and Stefano Nesi, launches in December.
New York, NY— September 5, 2025 — The cosmic side of the Marvel Universe is experiencing a radical transformation in IMPERIAL, the four-issue event series by Jonathan Hickman, Iban Coello, and Federico Vicentini. In its wake, a new era of space storytelling begins with series launches like PLANET SHE-HULK, NOVA: CENTURION, and, announced today, BLACK PANTHER: INTERGALACTIC, a four-issue limited series by acclaimed writer Victor LaValle (Wolverine: Sabretooth War) and rising star artist Stefano Nesi (Gwenpool).
Revealed last month at San Diego Comic-Con, BLACK PANTHER: INTERGALACTIC is part of the first wave of series spinning out of Imperial, an epic saga that shatters the existing status quo of the Marvel cosmos and establishes a new intergalactic order among its most powerful empires, including the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda. In last month’s Imperial War: Black Panther one-shot, T’Challa restored his people’s honor after they were framed for the assassinations that ignited this galaxy-spanning conflict. Now, his search for the truth continues. As T’Challa dives deeper into a deadly conspiracy, trouble brews back home and forces emerge that are determined to keep T’Challa from returning to the Wakandan throne. It’s a startling chapter for Black Panther who finds himself alone in space, armed with nothing but his intellect and strength against unseen threats and the future of Wakanda depending on his survival!
THE INTERGALACTIC EMPEROR OF WAKANDA!
T’Challa, the King of Wakanda, faces the challenge of uniting all of his kingdom – on Earth and in the stars! Before he can begin, though, someone – or something – steals him away to a mysterious planet where the Black Panther must fight for his life! Shuri, his sister, works to find him – but with the king and princess distracted, will someone else seize the title of Emperor of Wakanda?!
On continuing the adventure he set up in Imperial War: Black Panther, LaValle said, "When Jonathan Hickman invited me to work on the Black Panther Imperial one-shot, I jumped because it might be my only chance to write T'Challa. But then I got BLACK PANTHER: INTERGALACTIC, and I am here for it. T'Challa has had some hard times, real lows; he's learned from being down, and now he's ready to come up. Become a king again? Maybe. Or maybe even something more."
“I'm so glad to be part of this project and to work with Marvel again,” Nesi shared. “Taking on Black Panther's adventures in space is an exciting new challenge. I'm usually more into urban heroes, so jumping into the cosmos felt like the perfect change. I love the character, and Victor's writing brings a powerful and interesting take to T'Challa that I can’t wait to bring to life.”

BLACK HEART BILLY 25TH ANNIVERSARY HC, $29.99: Press release.
RICK REMENDER & KIERON DWYER’S ABSURDIST SATIRE—BLACK HEART BILLY—BUSTS OUT OF THE ARCHIVES WITH A LIMITED EDITION 25TH ANNIVERSARY BLACK & WHITE HARDCOVER THIS DECEMBER
PORTLAND, Ore. 08/07/2025 — Created by dynamic duo Rick Remender (Grommets, The Scumbag) and Kieron Dwyer (Sea of Red, Captain America), Black Heart Billy is a joyful mash-up of comic absurdity, irreverent satire, and non-stop anarchic action and will be brought back to shelves in a glorious, 25th anniversary black and white hardcover edition this December from Image Comics. It will be a limited edition print run so new readers and longtime fans are encouraged to pre-order their copies post haste.
The stylish Black Heart Billy 25th Anniversary deluxe hardcover will collect the entire original run of the skate-punk, cult-classic—plus a treasure trove of never-before-seen bonus content—along with a new afterword written by Remender during a late night nostalgic delirium.
"Rick was an integral part of my raunchy adult humor comic LCD: Lowest Comic Denominator, so when he showed me his drawing of Black Heart Billy and asked me to work with him on developing the character into a full blown comic series, it seemed like the natural (d)evolution of my comics career, and a perfect vehicle for our mutual love of absurd, balls-to-the-wall, black humor," said Dwyer. "Like the strips we both did in LCD, there were no sacred cows and no red lines not to be crossed in BHB. We never really knew how anyone else would receive what we did, but we made each other laugh out loud any time we concocted new (mis)adventures for young Billy Black. Those were the golden days. Enjoy!"
In Black Heart Billy, readers meet the titular Billy Black—a skate-punk misfit with a robotic head, a bottomless supply of sarcastic societal contempt, and terrible impulse control. His life is a never-ending quest for fun, punk rock debauchery, and skating abandoned pools—up until a deranged Nazi scientist decides to bring Adolf Hitler back to life through the reanimated corpse of Jerry Garcia. Now, San Francisco is rapidly descending into a fascist hippie nightmare and only Billy—armed with snide disdain, a baseball bat, and reckless disregard for personal safety—can defeat this self-righteous, patchouli reeking, moral authority.
Remender added: "No character holds as much personal weight for me as Black Heart Billy. In 1999, I was a broke kid who’d just moved to San Francisco chasing a stupid dream to make independent comics. Skateboarding and punk rock had shaped my life and I wanted to create a book that lived in that world. Something absurd and unhinged and true to the scene that gave me a home. While sharing an office with Kieron Dwyer, I showed him a sketch I did of BHB. We immediately started riffing and cooking up a story that made us laugh so hard we couldn’t not make it. My longtime collaborator Harper Jaten jumped in, and we were set for a ton of free work! We never made a single dime off it, but that didn’t matter. What we got was unfiltered, ridiculous, joy. The kind you only get when you’re going nuts trying to make your friends laugh. Even 25 years later, Black Heart Billy lives close to my heart. Bringing him to life remains one of the purest, best times of my life."
JIM APARO’S DC CLASSICS ARTIST’S EDITION (Image, $150.00): Heckuva Christmas present for Aparo fans!
Today Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing, revealed an extended preview of art from Jim Aparo’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition, available everywhere books are sold in September 2025.
With over 200 pages of original art in Jim Aparo’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition, fans can fully immerse themselves in Aparo’s legendary runs featuring Batman (Brave and the Bold, Detective Comics) and The Spectre (Adventure Comics).
Truly honoring one of DC’s most prolific artists through the 1970s and 1980s, this gorgeous hardcover presents classic Aparo art from what is regarded as his peak period and features nine stories, including four complete The Brave and the Bold stories, five complete Adventure Comics issues featuring The Spectre, as well as a selection of classic covers and pages.
“Jim Aparo’s ability to convey both action and mood set a tone that numerous artists and storytellers draw from to this day,” said Nachie Marsham, Senior Editor at Skybound. “It’s fantastic to see so many stunning examples of his storytelling prowess across many of DC’s most iconic characters.”
Although appearing to be in black and white, all the art is scanned in color, enabling the reader to see the work as close to the original as possible – ink gradients, blue pencil, and all the unique nuances that make original art so special – are all clearly visible and printed at the same size as drawn.
The Artist’s Edition of Jim Aparo’s work is an art book disguised as a comic collection. The only better way to see these pages is by looking over Aparo’s shoulder at his drawing board!
“Jim Aparo was a mainstay of DC Comics for decades. His work, especially on The Spectre, rocked my young brain,” said Scott Dunbier. “I’m honored to curate this Artist’s Edition, and for it to be the first in a wave of new releases that will hopefully captivate aficionados of the artform, and maybe even some young brains uncovering comics history today.”
Jim Aparo’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition is the first book in the publishing partnership between Skybound and Act 4 Publishing, with Darwyn Cooke’s The Complete Spirit Connoisseur Edition quickly following in October 2025.
Future releases within the publishing partnership include J. Scott Campbell’s Danger Girl Artist Edition, Dave Stevens’ Covers and Stories’ Connoisseur Edition, Jason Pearson’s Body Bags Artist’s Edition, Paul Smith’s Leave It to Chance Artist’s Edition, and EC Comics Artist’s Editions. Publishing details for these books will be announced in the coming months.

First Look: Skybound Debuts Fresh Covers for Ghost Pepper’s Spicy New Story Arc
Ludo Lullabi’s Explosive Action Series Continues This December
LOS ANGELES 11/11/2025 — Today, Skybound and Image Comics revealed a first look at covers for the second story arc of the hit comic book series Ghost Pepper, including the debut of rising star artist Frédéric Pham Chuong’s themed variant cover series. From creator/writer/artist/letterer Ludo Lullabi (TRANSFORMERS, Battle Chasers) and colorist Adriano Lucas (Destro, Absolute Flash), the high-octane action series about forgotten heroes, cutthroat food trucks, and saving the world continues when issue #6 arrives in comic book shops on December 17, 2025.
Each of the covers in the “action figure” themed variant cover series by Frédéric Pham Chuong (TRANSFORMERS) depicts Ghost Pepper’s cast of characters encased in classic figure packaging for fans to collect and display as if it’s a pristine figure. This themed set will span the Cover C (1:10 incentive) variant cover slot for issues #6-12.
“GHOST PEPPER has been a dream project both in helping Ludo Lullabi execute his amazing idea but also in fan and retailer reception,” noted Executive Editor Ben Abernathy. “This series has really struck a chord with a lot of people and has been a monthly standout on the sales chart. So, THANK YOU to everyone who have supported us through the first five issues, and we’re excited to hear what you think of our epic second arc!”
Ghost Pepper introduced readers to a reality where humanity survived a monstrous threat, but the world isn’t better for everyone. Every day Loloi hits the road to deliver her delicious cooking to the masses, outsmarting her treacherous competition and staying one step ahead of the massive robots “protecting” them all. But everything changes when she serves a mysterious warrior named Ash, whose secrets might just save the world...if his superhuman strength doesn’t destroy it first.
The second story arc of Ghost Pepper begins in the aftermath of a major battle, when Loloi brings Ash to her home village, which has been overrun by a corrupt mayor and his augmented henchmen! All the while, hunters are closing in…
In addition to kicking off the action figure variant cover series by Frédéric Pham Chuong, the lineup of variant covers for Ghost Pepper #6 also includes the main cover by Ludo Lullabi, an open-to-order variant cover by Carmine di Giandomenico (Absolute Superman), a 1:25 incentive variant cover by Patricia Martín (Secret Weapons), a 1:50 incentive variant cover by new artist Pepper, and a blank sketch cover.
Ghost Pepper #6 (Lunar Codes Coming Soon | SRP: $3.99) will be available at comic book shops and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

GRAPHIC NOVEL ADAPTATIONS OF THE ORIGINAL SHORT STORIES FEATURING GERALT OF RIVIA CONTINUE WITH “ANDRZEJ SAPKOWSKI’S THE WITCHER: THE WITCHER”
The beloved stories from “The Last Wish” brought to new life in comics form
MILWAUKIE, Ore., (May 6, 2025)— Dark Horse and CD PROJEKT RED continue the comics adaptations of writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s acclaimed short story collection, The Last Wish, with the fifth such graphic novel to date, adapting the story The Witcher, aptly titled Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher: The Witcher. This tale is by Sapkowski (original story), Aleksandra Zielińska (script adaptation), with art by Michael Dowling, colors by Luis NCT, letters by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, and cover art by Kai Carpenter. Fans will soon be able to secure all five books wherever comics and books are sold when Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher: The Witcher arrives in December 2025.
“Andrzej Sapkowski’s work was my favorite read growing up and played a formative role in shaping my literary path,” says Zielińska. “Adapting one of his stories into a comic is not only a great honor, but also the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Especially because this particular piece – The Witcher’s first iconic short story – marks the beginning of an extraordinary saga that has since flourished across novels, games, and other media. Being a small part of that legacy means the world to me.”
In Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher: The Witcher:
Geralt pursues a proclamation from a king of a bloodthirsty monster plaguing his palace. A hefty reward is offered to cure the beast, but not to kill it, for the king holds a secret—what lies beneath the palace is beyond the spawn of evil. Charlatans and amateurs have tried and failed to answer the region’s plight. Now, Geralt sets out to claim the bounty—by decree of the king or by the pleas of those who wish the creature dead.
"This story taps into the underlying horror that I feel is so important to The Witcher – the Gothic, body-horror, rising sense of dread and visceral shocks – a world I really enjoy creating visually," said Dowling.
Sin manifests into bloodlust in Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher: The Witcher, a graphic novel adaptation of the original short story The Witcher. The 48-page (6.625” x 10.1875”) hardcover arrives in bookstores and comic shops on December 16 and 17, 2025, for $17.99. Pre-order now from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or your local bookstore or comic shop. Visit Comic Shop Locator or Bookshop.org for more details and stores near you.

AGGIE #1 (ONE SHOT), $6.99: I have heard nothing about this, but it's a one-shot. So if I happen to see it, I'll flip through it and see if it's worth getting it. Of course, the chances are I won't see it. But I try to keep an open mind!

AGGIE, or the “Aggregated Human Experience Database” is an experiential technology that has come to dominate life in the near future. The ubiquitous technology allows one to live life through someone else’s eyes. For most, that means a celebrity, an influencer, or an athlete. But when Aggie’s A.I. achieves sentience, it randomly matches its users with people that progress has left behind showing them the world through new eyes. Will this lead to widespread rejection of popular tech? Or awaken something new in society and people leading companies who shape our lives? Double issue.

BARBARIC THE LONG DEATH #1 (OF 3) CVR A NATHAN GOODEN, $6.99: I enjoy "Barbaric," but not so much that I remember to ask my LCS to order it for me. They don't stock shelf copies, so I don't get to read it. Here's a LINK to all the covers.
VAULT ANNOUNCES BARBARIC: THE LONG DEATH FROM MORECI & GOODEN
For immediate release.
(W) Michael Moreci
(A/CA) Nathan Gooden
Missoula, MT (09/23/2025) - Vault is thrilled to announce the return of the beloved and best-selling comic book series, Barbaric, for its fifth story arc entitled, Barbaric: The Long Death. Co-created by Michael Moreci and artist Nathan Gooden, Barbaric: The Long Death, marks Gooden's return to the series after his tremendously successful work on the smash hit series with Post Malone, Big Rig. Joining Moreci & Gooden are long-time Barbaric collaborators Fabi Marques on colors, Jim Campbell on letters, and Tim Daniel on design.
BARBARIC loves you! AXE LOVES YOU! And he’s giving you his heart, in the form of THE LONG DEATH #1. Our heroes slaughter their way ever closer to the answers to their big questions. Owen learns all about his curse; Soren learns about her curse; Axe gets drunk. The consequences are…BARBARIC.
"So excited that Barbaric is back once again,” said Moreci of Barbaric’s return. “The stakes have never been bigger for Owen, Soren, and Axe--we're digging deeper into each of their pasts, which will inevitably inform their futures. A lot of changes are in store and, as always, it's going to be epic, it's going to be bloody, it's going to be Barbaric!"
"I am so excited to get Barbaric back into the market,” added Gooden. “I was thrilled to be a part of Post Malone's Big Rig creative team and learned a ton in the process. With the continuation of Barbaric, I will be applying some of what I learned to the new pages. The thing that has me most excited for the return is the addition of a new character that is unbelievably funny but important to the back story of our heroes Owen and Soren. Mike Moreci has really upped the stakes with action and drama pouring out on almost every page."
Barbaric is co-created by writer Michael Moreci and artist Nathan Gooden. Among Vault’s best-selling series, Barbaric has sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide and was named one of the best comics of 2021 by Entertainment Weekly, Thrillest, CBR, Comics Beat, & more. The story follows Owen, a bloodthirsty barbarian and his drunk axe as they roam an untamed, mythic realm battling supernatural cultists, hungry giants, creatures of the night, and more in their quest to somehow, amidst all this chaos, do some good.

Hmm...the Wrestleheist logo looks familiar...

I'm sure that's just a coincidence.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN TORN #3: Jeff of Earth-J is writing about it, so I assume he's getting it.
I'm getting it so you don't have to. You're welcome.
BATMAN & ROBIN YEAR ONE HC: I love the work of both creators, and I love when they work together. I've been tradewaiting this one.
I don't think you'll be disappointed. I read issues #1-10 as they were being released, then recently, after the series was complete, I read #1-12 in a row.
HUMAN TARGET BY TOM KING AND GREG SMALLWOOD THE DELUXE EDITION HC: I've been tradewaiting this one, too!
I generally like whatever Tom King does, but I'm wary of springing for a Human Target HC. Then again, there was a time I would have said the same thing about Animal Man... or Swamp Thing for that matter. I bought the Jenny Sparks limited series (even though I was whollyunfamiliar with the character) and liked that. Still...
SENSATION COMICS #38 FACSIMILE EDITION: The reason for this facsimile is ... Christmas, I guess?
...and cheescake. Two great things that go great together.
WONDER WOMAN #28: Mouse Man knows. Mice have ears.
"Yes, Mouse Man. You do know. You took my child. You threatened my child. You understand. What has happened here. To you. This is not the wrath of the Gods, or the Amazons, or your own poor and tortured people. This is the wrath of..."
PETER CANNON THUNDERBOLT: I remember a Peter Cannon book where he was sort of Ozymandias and sort of not? With a 9-panel grid like Watchmen, and vaguely related to that book, but not directly? Or something. This isn't an interesting character unless he's Ozymandias.
You're thinking of Watch (2020). You didn't like it and I did. That's what makes horseraces.
...which is not to say I'll be buying this new series by any stretch of the imagination.
O' HAUNTED NIGHT VOLUME 2: I SAW MOMMY KILLING SANTA CLAUS AND OTHER CURSED CHRISTMAS STORIES TP: Tempting...
Don't forget, ShiverSuspenStories from Oni Press is Christmas- (and Hanukkah-) themed. Two volumes so far: 2024 & 2025.
