NO. 1: MARVEL COMICS
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: TORN #5 (OF 5), $3.99: Discussion can be found HERE.
CYCLOPS #1 (OF 5), $4.99:
Witer: Alex Paknadel
Penciller: Roge Antonio
CYCLOPS UNLEASHED! Scott Summers is a mutant who is always in near-total control of his powers and his emotions. But what happens when he's separated from the X-Men, lost in a mountain wilderness without the visor that keeps his devastating powers in check? And will he be able to stay alive when Donald Pierce and his cyborgs, the Reavers, are hunting him? It's a tale of the X-Men's leader at his most savage core!
"... is a mutant who is always in near-total control of his powers ..." You mean the guy who can't take off his visor because he can't turn off his powers? Maybe I missed something.
FALL OF ULTRAMAN #1, $4.99: Is this the same Ultraman being discussed HERE?
MARC SPECTOR: MOON KNIGHT #1, $4.99
Writer: Jed Mackay
Penciller: Devmalya Pramanik
MOON KNIGHT: MISSING! Marc Spector has been many things - an Avenger, a Fist of Khonshu, a Karnak Cowboy and now... KIDNAPPED?! But by whom? And why?! Don't they have any idea they've trapped MOON KNIGHT?!
I have lost count of how many first issues Moon Knight has had, and have completely lost track of the character. I'm glad he's still out there, though. You just can't beat a good Egyptian motif!
STAR WARS: JAR JAR #1, $4.99: Nope.
WADE WILSON: DEADPOOL #1, $4.99
Writer: Benjamin Percy
Penciller: Geoff Shaw
DANGEROUS. UNHINGED. DEADLY. Deadpool is a man on the brink, and that means the jobs are deadlier, the stakes are higher, and the humor is darker than ever before. But Wade Wilson isn't laughing. A dark memory haunts Deadpool, as a mysterious client leads him down a troubling path. This way lies redemption? No, something far worse. Wade can never be forgiven for what he's done ... the new ongoing series begins!
Deadpool is a rare character, in that I prefer him somewhere other than his native medium. Deadpool comics never did much for me, as comedy is really hard in print, and most writers can't do it. But when Ryan Reynolds brings Deadpool to life onscreen, it's hilarious. I wonder if Reynolds hears his own voice in his head when he reads Deadpool comics ...

But when a rocket test goes wrong, Krypto finds himself lost in space--and soon crash-landing, all alone, on a strange and alien world called Earth. Through hardships and challenges, Krypto will face danger head-on to help others like him--lost and afraid but resilient and ready to forge ahead to a destiny of greatness! Join all-star writer Ryan North and artist Mike Norton on a fantastical jaunt with Earth’s new best friend, Krypto! Includes KRYPTO: THE LAST DOG OF KRYPTON #1-5.

SIRENS: LOVE HURTS #1 (OF 4), $5.99
(W) Tini Howard (A/CA) Babs Tarr
HARLEY, IVY, CATWOMAN, AND BLACK CANARY BROUGHT TO YOU BY FAN-FAVORITE CREATORS TINI HOWARD AND BABS TARR! Introducing Gotham’s most eligible bachelorettes...for at least a little while longer! First, there’s Catwoman, who’s been playing cat and mouse with her two favorite boy toys--Bruce Wayne and the Dark Knight himself, Batman. Next up? Harley Quinn, who’s recently single and now committed only to her hot girl era. Of course, there’s also Poison Ivy, who just wants to enjoy her solitude...as long as her best friend Harley’s there to enjoy it with her. And then there’s the new girl, Black Canary, who’s engaged to the love of her life, Green Arrow--but the closer they get to the wedding day, the more it feels like they might not be so written in the stars after all. But these four fabulous women aren’t meeting to discuss any of that. At least, not willingly. There’s a killer on the loose in Gotham City--a killer of women. And when Black Canary realizes stopping the murders requires more criminal company than she’s used to keeping, she finds herself reluctantly teaming up with the infamous Gotham City Sirens for the hunt. Easier said than done when the four of them can barely make it through one lousy brunch... Fan-favorite writer Tini Howard (Catwoman, Harley Quinn) teams with superstar artist Babs Tarr (Batgirl) to bring you the sexiest and most scintillating DC Black Label series yet!
Huh. Black Canary's such a natural fit, I'm surprised she hasn't been part of this gang already.
SUPERMAN #423 (FACSIMILE EDITION) (WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE MAN OF TOMORROW PART 1 OF 2), $3.99
This is such a love letter to Silver Age Superman, I can't imagine anybody who loved Silver Age Superman hasn't read it already. And for those who haven't read much Silver Age Superman, it probably wouldn't have much impact.
WONDER WOMAN: THE SILVER AGE OMNIBUS VOLUME 3 HC, $100.00
(W) Robert Kanigher (A) Ross Andru, Irv Novick, Various (CA) Ross Andru, Mike Esposito
OVER TWO DOZEN ADVENTURES, NEVER BEFORE COLLECTED IN COLOR! Return to Paradise Island! This transformative era sees Diana’s origins rewritten, her Wonder Family expanded, and classic villains revived in wild, imaginative tales by Robert Kanigher, Ross Andru, and Mike Esposito. Packed with iconic stories and creative reinventions, this volume captures a pivotal, unpredictable chapter in the Amazing Amazon’s incredible history. Collects WONDER WOMAN #150-177 and THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #63 and #78, with a brand-new introduction by comics historian John Wells.
I know what we're all thinking: "Sure, this is nice, but I'd rather have Golden Age Wonder Woman Omnibus Vol. 7." Well, that's what I'm thinking, anyway. I've already read all these stories, but I know I'm in the minority.
Incidentally, this brings us up to Wonder Woman #177. The next issue begins Mike Sekowsky's Diana Rigg era, which has already been reprinted in multiple formats. In the last of these stories, Ross Andru had already left the book, and the last half dozen issues were drawn by Irv Novick or Ric Estrada. Mike Esposito remained on inks, maintaining a certain amount of consistency.
Now that I'm thinking about it, though, this really is the end of an era. Not just Marston/Peter, but also Kanigher/Andru, which gave more than a nod to the original approach. Sekowsky dumped the entire premise, and when the Amazing Amazon regained her powers, she was written and drawn as a standard, modern superhero, with none of the fairy-tale whimsy, feminist philosophy, eccentric artwork and bondage of the past.

BLEEDING HEARTS #1, $3.99
(W) Deniz Camp (A/CA) Stipan Morian
THE RED-HOT WRITER OF ABSOLUTE MARTIAN MANHUNTER, DENIZ CAMP, RE-TEAMS WITH BREAKOUT ARTIST STIPAN MORIAN TO UNLEASH VERTIGO'S FIRST NEW #1! The zombies won--and ten years after the fall of humanity, they’re the dominant form of life (or not-life) on Earth. They’ve developed their own cultural practices, their own language, their own society. Mouse-Pokes-Golf-Ball-Through-Hole-In-Head (Poke for short) is a beloved member of his community, and with his brother-in-arm Mush, he’s happy to shamble along through the only world he can remember...until the day his heart mysteriously starts beating again. And in a blink, the first humans he sees have stopped looking like food and have started looking like...friends...? The team behind 20th Century Men, the bold mission statement that launched writer Deniz Camp and artist Stipan Morian to the next level of the comics industry, has reunited to bring you a world ruled by ruthless kill-or-be-killed logic, pitted against the demands of a single beating, bleeding, emotional heart!
I sure enjoyed a lot of Vertigo titles back when Karen Berger was editor. Almost all of 'em, in fact. I suspect that I was the target audience at the time, and won't be this time around. The world has moved on, and there are new audiences wanting different things than I did.

MINISERIES PREMIERE
Daniel Upton and Edward Derby have been best friends almost their entire lives, right up to the point Daniel shoots Edward dead in the Arkham Sanitorium—a crime Daniel swears he didn't commit, despite all the evidence. What happened on that fateful day in Arkham? What is the truth behind this seemingly mindless act of violence? Witness the beginning of this doomed relationship and Edward's slow descent into a horrifying world beyond his control.
From award-winning writer Simon Birks (ANTARCTICA, Sinners, Gone, The Shadow Over Innsmouth) with artist Willi Roberts (ANTARCTICA, The Dark, Clodagh, The Blood Below, Remothered) comes a chilling tale based on HP Lovecraft's terrifying story.
I wasn't a huge Lovecraft fan when I was younger, but in my dotage I enjoy him more. Maybe my own existential dread is quietly increasing?

I honestly don't think anyone at Marvel has understood its characters since the one/two punch of "Sins Past/One More Day."
Is this the same Ultraman being discussed HERE?
Well, one of them. (It's complicated.) I guess he's as much "Ultraman" as any comic book version of a TV show. It's supposed to be.
I have lost count of how many first issues Moon Knight has had, and have completely lost track of the character.
"My" Moon Knight exists entirely withing the pages of the two omnibus editions.

If DC switched from omnibus format to DCFs at this point (for Wonder Woman) that would be ideal.
