Comics for Feb. 18, 2026

GoCollect.com pooped out on me this week. I was starting to feel confident in its list, and the separation by publisher was convenient. Since it's unavailable this week (and for all I know forever) I'm looking at other sites, which aren't quite as convenient, and which I don't have any reason to trust. I'm cobbling together this list, and double-checking where I can. Grr.

Keep in mind that there are press releases and previews about some of these books in COMING COMICS.

TOP 10 PUBLISHERS

According to ICv2.com, DC outsold Marvel in comic shops in Q4 2025. So it's No. 1 until I hear different.

NO.1: DC COMICS

END OF LIFE #1, $3.99

31085148300?profile=RESIZE_192X31085253461?profile=RESIZE_192X(W) Kyle Starks (A) Steve Pugh (CA) Gerald Parel

KYLE STARKS AND STEVE PUGH TAKE ON A HITMAN IN TROUBLE!

Professional hitman Eddie Stallion has messed up. He’s accidentally robbed the Raven, a high-ranking boss of the international cabal of assassins the Menagerie, of which Eddie is a member ... or he was. Now with a price on his head, Eddie chooses to hide in the one place everyone knows he’d never go ... the small midwestern town of Pluto, home of his estranged father and known hard-ass George Stallion. Looking for safe harbor, Eddie instead finds his resentful father dying of cancer, old friends looking to collect that bounty, Menagerie assassins who have wandered into town, a canceled newspaper comic-strip creator turned local crime lord, and oh yeah, his childhood first love, too. Kyle Starks and Steve Pugh, the team behind Peacemaker Tries Hard!, present the story of a man-child assassin with some very grown-up problems. As Eddie grows more attached to the people of Pluto, he’ll have to step in to solve those problems the only way a hitman knows how!

"... his childhood first love, too." Who will still be gorgeous, and available.

This is the new Vertigo's second title. Fingers crossed.

The book includes the Green Arrow stories from Adventure Comics #103-117, More Fun Comics #73-107 (after which it became a humor title) and World's Finest Comics #7-28. That carried us into 1938, so there's still plenty of Emerald Archer to go, before he dropped out of Adventure in 1960 and World's Finest in 1964. So yes, if a second volume should occur, I'd get it, especially if it included the Kirby run. And where's our Golden Age Aquaman Omnibus, DC? Maybe DC Finest will pick up the slack.

CELEBRATING SIX DECADES OF THE KING OF WAKANDA! This landmark over-sized issue features brand-new, thrilling stories from a lineup of fan-favorite writers and artists who have defined T'Challa's legacy. Don't miss this must-have tribute to T'Challa, Wakanda and 60 years of the world's greatest protector!

Here are some of the stories fans can look forward to:

  • Writer Evan Narcisse (Wakanda, Sam Wilson: Captain America) and artist George Jeanty (Star Wars: Mace Windu) bring back former Black Panther, Kasper Cole! In this framing story, join Cole as he searches for Wakanda’s exiled king, learning about some of T’Challa’s never-before-told adventures in the process.
  • Cole also pays a visit to the former Queen of Wakanda in a tale by acclaimed Storm writer Murewa Ayodele and rising star artist Eder Messias (Sam Wilson: Captain America). Listen in as Storm shares an intimate memory from her time by T’Challa’s side, when their love was powerful enough to overcome any threat against them!
  • Cody Ziglar (Miles Morales: Spider-Man) joins forces with veteran Black Panther artist Alitha E. Martinez for a Black Panther/Blue Marvel team-up! Dr. Adam Brashear recounts their time together in the Ultimates, and reveals what T’Challa taught him about strength and leadership!
  • Superstar writer Christopher Priest returns to his groundbreaking Black Panther with a surprising encounter T’Challa had with Magneto, set during the time the Master of Magnetism ruled his own African nation, Genosha.

Yes, it's been 60 years since Fantastic Four #52. But T'Challa wasn't really important until Christopher Priest wrote him right, beginning in 1998. He was more or less a supporting character until then, so he's only been an A-lister for about 30 years. Thinking about it that way makes me feel less old.

DEADLY HANDS OF K'UN-LUN #1, $4.99

Writer: Yifan Jiang
Penciller: Paco Medina
Cover Artist: Leinil Francis Yu

THE SEVEN HEAVENLY CITIES ARE FALLING! As demonic forces march their conquering army across the SEVEN HEAVENLY CITIES the only one who can stand in their way and restore order is IRON FIST! However, as more cities fall and the demonic forces swell, he'll need to rely on some unlikely allies to face the incoming onslaught. But will the combined forces of ELEKTRA, WHITE TIGER, WHITE FOX & PEI, be enough to stem the tide…or is LIN LIE destined to watch as the legacy of the Iron Fist goes up in flames? From one of the creative minds behind the hit video game, MARVEL RIVALS, writer YIFAN JIANG sends Marvel's greatest martial artists into their most intense journey yet!

Expanding the Iron Fist mythos is the best decision ever made for the character. Let's face it: Danny Rand is boring. He was boring in the comics, and he was boring on TV. But when Ed Brubaker said that K'un-Lun was just one of seven mystical cities, and each had its own protector, each with a line of champions stretching back into the far past ... well, that made me sit up and take notice for the first time. I loved Orson Randall — because of his faults and moral failings, not despite them. I loved Bride of Nine Spiders, Fat Cobra, Dog Brother #1 and the rest of the Immortal Weapons. I loved this entirely new, and not entirely noble, perspective on Yu-Ti and K'un-Lun.

I don't know exactly where the series is right now — there's a new one, and Danny Rand is Ghost Fist, maybe? — but wherever it is, it's intrinsically more interesting than when rich white boy Danny Rand was the only Iron Fist we knew.

ROAD TO 'ARMAGEDDON'

CAPTAIN AMERICA #7, $4.99

WOLVERINE: WEAPONS OF ARMAGEDDON #1, $5.99

31084926653?profile=RESIZE_192XWriter: Chip Zdarsky
Penciller: Luca Maresca
Cover Artist: Leinil Francis Yu

ARMAGEDDON STRIKES THE MARVEL UNIVERSE! Superstar writer Chip Zdarsky and dynamic artist Luca Maresca kick off a game-changing new saga! When an old acquaintance drags Logan into the search for a new abducted mutant subject, the terrifying methods of the defunct Weapon X program are revealed to be alive and well. As Wolverine follows the scent of the feral Tyler - and the scent of his own trauma - he finds himself in a deadly race against a super-soldier-creating corporation called PRIMEWARRIOR…which has just hired a very familiar face: the fully armed and upgraded NUKE! Don't miss the first chapter of the biggest Wolverine story in years, one that will have a major impact on the future of the Marvel Universe!

Crap, now I have a decision to make. This is the second title in a new "event," and I have to decide whether to lean in (and buy it) or back off (and tradewait). When it was just Captain America leading up to "Armageddon," I was fine buying it. But now there's two titles ... and how many more to come?

Decisions, decisions.

'SHADOWS OF TOMORROW'

GENERATION X-23 #1, $4.99

Writer: Jody Houser
Penciller: Jacopo Camagni
Cover Artist: Partha Pratim

HER NAME IS WOLVERINE. BUT THE LEGEND OF X-23 GROWS. LAURA KINNEY was brainwashed and trained from birth to be the ultimate assassin as X-23. She's long put that life behind her…but it seems she hasn't quite outrun it yet! When LAURA and GABBY encounter someone who seems to be their LONG-LOST FRIEND, the harrowing plot they uncover will turn their worlds upside down. The next generation of X-subjects is here, and they follow in the deadly footsteps of X-23! Featuring a host of new heroes and villains, Generation X-23 have a surprise in store for the WOLVERINE!

By contrast with Iron Fist above, I've always thought that expanding the Wolverine franchise was a mistake. Why would you want to read about the second-best at what they do? Or third? Or fourth? I do have a soft spot for Laura Kinney, due to her horrific upbringing, and I hope the X-Men give her the home she never had. But I'm not sure I need a whole series about her. And I don't have any use for the other girl, or Daken, or any other Wolver-wannabes. One is enough, thank you.

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #24, $6.99

30987917656?profile=RESIZE_400xWritten by JONATHAN HICKMAN
Art and Cover by MARCO CHECCHETTO

Since its creation in 2023, Marvel’s new Ultimate Universe has taken the industry by storm with its bold reinventions of Spider-Man, Black Panther, the Avengers, the X-Men and more! Just now at the highly anticipated Marvel Comics: Ultimate Universe Panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Ultimate Spider-Man writer and the visionary mind behind the Ultimate Universe Jonathan Hickman, Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, Ultimate Editor Wil Moss, Ultimates writer Deniz Camp and Ultimate Wolverine writer Chris Condon shed light on the future of the best-selling line with exciting first looks, the reveal of the final issue of Ultimate Spider-Man, and the official announcement for ULTIMATE ENDGAME, a five-part event series by Deniz Camp, Jonas Scharf and more launching in December.

Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto’s generational Spider-Man saga reaches its planned conclusion in ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #24. Fans should prepare themselves for a startling finale that will cement the run as one of the most beloved Spider-Man runs in recent history. Packed with dramatic—and shocking—developments for the entire Parker family—Peter, Mary Jane, Richard, May and Uncle Ben—along with Harry Osborn, Gwen Stacy and more, the issue will also create promising roadmaps for future storytelling.

“This was everything that I pitched,” Hickman explained. “Nothing has deviated. It’s been really nice to execute the plan well and everything culminates into this issue. Fans of the Ultimate Universe are going to love it. It’s been a real pleasure being the writer of ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN.”

Last issue!

CATACOMB OF TORMENT #8

Is winter's woe upon thee? Come on into the CATACOMB OF TORMENT—where our horrific hostess, the Tormentor, always keeps the pyre roaring! Take sickly comfort in three bloody new tales of miserable merriment in the immortal EC Comics mold—hauled out from the depths of the Tormentor's catacomb and fiendishly stitched together by caustic creators Rafael Scavone (Hit-Girl) & Rafael Albuquerque (American Vampire), Paul Tobin (The Witcher) & Arjuna Susini (Lamentation), and Robert Menegus (Necromancer Bill) & Valeria Burzo (High Strangeness)! Winter may be coming to an end, but EC Comics NEVER DIE!

This is the only Image book I'm reading this week. I'm gonna read more, I promise! Is anyone reading Ghost Pepper or Good as Dead? They look interesting.

**MINISERIES PREMIERE **

Super-thief bruiser brothers, Crash and Bash Biggle, jump into action to help Commander Thunderfang fight inter-dimensional crime boss, Lord Slyther. But a run-in with Marla Mendoza, leader of the COPZ gang and Slyther's most formidable loyalist, changes the course of Bash's life forever.

An all-new action/comedy from bestselling writer ANDREW MACLEAN (HEAD LOPPER) and gonzo artist ALEXIS ZIRITT (SPACE RIDERS).

This doesn't look like my bag. Even with the Master of Kung Fu homage. As I've said before, comedy in comics is hard, and doesn't usually work for me.

WHITE SKY #1

31078491872?profile=RESIZE_400x31078492070?profile=RESIZE_400xPORTLAND, Ore. 01/21/2026 — Longtime, critically-acclaimed comic book and video game writer William Harms (two-time BAFTA nominated Mafia III, International Horror Guild Award finalist Impaler) teams up with fan-favorite artist JP Mavinga and colorist Lee Loughridge (Standstill) for the upcoming dystopian thriller, White Sky. The series was exclusively announced at IGN with a first look preview and is set to launch next month from Image Comics.

The debut issue of the series will also feature a variant cover by award winning animation artist Eliza Ivanova (Cars 2, Brave, Inside Out, Coco).

Five years ago, the sky went white and the world ended. Now Violet and her father, David, are driven from hiding and forced to cross what’s left of America toward the shattered ruins of San Francisco, chasing a rumor of refuge. But in a land haunted by the dead, nowhere is safe for the living.

"When we face impossible challenges and incomprehensible monsters, sometimes, the only source of courage we have are the ones who won't abandon us, our loved ones and our family," said Mavinga. "Beyond trying to draw an interesting visual spectacle, for me, every page is just the story of one small family trying to survive."

Harms added: "I’ve always been a fan of ghost stories, so I thought, what if the entire world was haunted? That was the genesis for White Sky, and since then it’s turned into a deeply personal story about a man and his daughter trying to survive in that world.”

An epic, apocalyptic survival story perfect for fans of The Last of Us, The Walking Dead, and 28 Days Later.

On the other hand, this one looks exactly like my bag. I'm always up for a good apocalypse.

SMILE FOR THE CAMERA #1

31000344465?profile=RESIZE_400xUnleashing psychological supernatural scares in comic shops next February is SMILE: FOR THE CAMERA #1. From acclaimed horror writer Hannah Rose May (Rogues’ Gallery, THE EXORCISM AT 1600 PENN) and rising star artist Miriana Puglia (Red Sonja, Gargoyles), the frightening tale brings readers back to the year 2005 to follow a group of international models as they kick off Fashion Month in New York. They’re dying to smile for the camera, but paranoia quickly creeps in as the mysterious Smile Entity begins to stalk the group.

"As a huge fan of Smile, I’m honored to be entrusted with expanding Parker Finn’s terrifying universe into comics,” said May. “I’ve had a disgustingly good time writing this and I can’t wait for fans to experience the nightmare in a whole new medium. Like how Smile 2 took us inside the world of a present day pop star, our series throws it back to the early 2000s and drops the Entity right into the ruthless world of the modeling industry.”

The horror writer added, “Miriana’s poppy art paired with Dearbhla’s evocative colors has created a visual language that’s as seductive as it is sinister. I'm thrilled to be working alongside this excellent team that Paramount, IDW, and editor Heather Antos have assembled. IDW Dark is setting the stage for a new era of horror comics and they're just getting started!"

“It’s really a pleasure — and especially an honor for me — to work on this project,” remarked Puglia. “Hannah's ability to take us into the context of the early 2000s fashion world is unique. I love the scenes relating to the hectic life of those working in this field, the behind the scenes of a fashion show and the constant need to be aesthetically top notch at all times (even when you are infected by the Entity). I am having a lot of fun imagining each scene, especially the tension and fear of turning the page!”

Based on the movie, which I have never seen.

31086308882?profile=RESIZE_192X31086309095?profile=RESIZE_192XIT WAS A DARK AND FROGGY EVENING!

It's time to cue the music; it's time to dim the lights! It's time to get things started as the Muppets return tonight!
The show is about to begin at the famous Muppet Theatre, and the regular pre-curtain chaos has the troupe's stalwart MC, Kermit the Frog, coming apart at the seams. In an attempt to de-stress, he settles down to read a few pages of a favorite old detective novel - only to get kayoed by an errant brick to the bean, leaving him laid out backstage as his co-stars try to coax him back to consciousness.

But unbeknownst to them, Kermit has taken up the hard-boiled mantle of his fictional hero to walk the darkened streets of Dreamland, righting wrongs and cracking cases under the concealing cover of night. Flip Minnow, P.I., has no time for song and dance - not if he's going to solve the baffling mystery of the Snoozing Sleuth!
Legendary cartooning talent and Muppets comics veteran ROGER LANGRIDGE bellies up to the drawing table once more for an all-new tale of crime and pun-ishment with The Muppets Noir #1 - featuring clue-filled cover art from both the author and guest artist DECLAN SHALVEY, as well as an appropriately enigmatic DELUXE MYSTERY BLIND BAG! The Blind Bag contains two limited editions of the issue selected randomly from a range of variant covers exclusive to this offering - including a new original cover, colored blanks, and more! Please Note: The number of Blind Bags is limited, and allocations may occur.

If I was ever going to read a Muppets book, it would probably be this one.

In the desert city of Zamboula, Conan is attacked by a group of cannibals who feast on weary travelers. Together with a mysterious dancer named Zabibi, he learns the city’s rulers turn a blind eye to the nightly hunts so long as those who live there aren't on the menu. But when Conan agrees to help Zabibi kill a depraved priest who cursed her lover, he'll find himself caught in a web of illusion and betrayal within the temple walls of the ape-god Hanuman! Reprinting the adaptation of the original Robert E. Howard story from Savage Sword of Conan #14, presented her for the first time in stunning color.

  • Armageddon tired of these "events"! Har-har-har!

  • Is anyone reading Ghost Pepper or Good as Dead?

I'm reading Good as Dead. I like pretty much everything Dave Lapham does.

VIZ MEDIA - ULTRAMAN VOL. 21

Holy crikey! It's been two years since v20! Bob, are you caught up?

    1974761606.jpg

FANTAGRAPHICS - LOST MARVLES Vol. 3 - SAVAGE TALES OF THE 1980s HC

Here's another one from Fantagraphincs I didn't pre-order because I didn't know about it. Although I was actively collecting comics in the '80s, this is a series I gave a pass to.

FRANKENSTEIN THE UNCONQUERED VOL. 1 TPB (Source Point)

Not sure what this is. "Source Point" does a lot of parody/humor, stuff like that, but this looks serious. Here's a LINK.

    • I've read thorugh Volume 20 of Ultraman.. I just need to go back and update the thread as needed, maybe re-read the last volume or two.
