Wonder Woman - the Gail Simone/George Perez story...fantastic!  Worth the price for that alone.

Secret Avengers - I was so psyched after the first issue...this one was so "blah" that I'm thinking of dropping it.

Action Comics - Lex is a much more disturbed person than any of us realized.  Clark is NOT gonna be happy if he finds out...Lois will KILL Lex.

Death of Dracula - This was so much better than I was expecting.  The various clans of vampires were very interesting.

  • Wonder Woman: I loved the Simone/Perez story, and liked the Amanda Conner story quite a bit, too (I'd just finished reading the conclusion to her PG series yesterday morning,so the coda came as a wonderful surprise. Simonson's story was nice, but didn't rock me, the Johns story left me cold, and the opening to the JMS arc didn't do a lot for me -- I'm still more intrigued by the press releases than by the story itself. I'm not sure if I'll be continuing on, despite thinking the new costume is pretty sharp.

Flash 3: Y'know, after last menth's cliffhanger, it never occurred to me that the DNA could be (or be interpreted as) Barry contaminating the evidence! So that was a nice surprise. Boomerang got a bit more dangerous, here, too, which I'm cool with, and I'm very curious how Iris ties into the main murder mystery. I also loved how Barry was willing to put his personal problems completely aside to work on an unrelated case. THAT's a hero! The new Barry is definitely growing on me.

I also bought Turf 2, but I'm rereading Turf 1 to jog my memory -- and given how wordy the book is, that could take a while.

I'm not buying it, but I'm glad Action is working for you! I've been meaning to read a Cornell book one of these days, since I hear such good things.
  • Reading through Action again last night, I think Lex may have created the Lois-bot under the residual influence of the orange ring.
  • Wait... Lex has created a Lois Lane robot? That's completely demented!
  • Yeah, she's his companion now...and, uh, she's fully functional. David Tennant is on his staff, too. Given that Paul Cornell is the writer, I don't think that's a coincidence.
  • Oh, and long-time Marvel Family fans...you really should pick up this issue of Action.

Ick. And what? Just someone who looks like Tennant, someone named David Tennant, or the real David Tennant?
  • He looks a lot like Doctor Ten Tennant...
  • I asked Paul Cornell if he was the one to cast Tennant in the book. His response:

He does look a bit like him, but if so that's totally Pete's doing.

How cool is the internet era when you can send a question directly to the writer and get a response?

    {Meta-Joke} I dunno. How cool is it? {/Meta-Joke}

    Seriously? Tres cool.

"Conclusion"? Did the Power Girl book get canceled? Darn.

Of the big recent anniversaries -- Wonder Woman #600, Batman #700, and Superman #700 -- I found Wonder Woman far and away the most satisfying. I'm not sure about this new direction, but I'm in.

I'm also intrigued by this look at Lex Luthor in Action #890, but I have questions; is Luthor again a business mogul, or is he a criminal on the run? Having been away from the Superman titles for a while (10 years or so), it wasn't clear. Are his favorite leg-breakers Hope and Mercy totally out of the picture? And that Lois Lane robot -- what's that all about?
