  • I was watching Bones and the two victims had identical marks on their skulls. They figured out the murderer hit both of them with his cane, his Barnabas Collins cane.

    • Awesome! Was it literally mentioned that is was a Collins cane, or is it just the same design going unmentioned?

    • ...or is it just the same design going unmentioned?

      That one.

  • ...and the victim's name was Willie Loomis. (jk)

  • ...and "The Man in the Wall" was Reverend Trask.

    • Bhahahaha! Trask in the wall.

  • I've seen up through episode 1062 now. Stokes and Carolyn seem to want to drive Barnabas and Julia away, and there's a curse on the Colins name. Apparently something really bad happened after they left -- something that left David dead and Collinwood abandoned. Plus, we got to see Mrs. Johnson again! Hooray!

  • I have been spending a lot of time n the 1990s recently. Some of my favorite current shows are set then (Young Sheldon, That '90s Show, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage), plus, in 2024 I watched Seinfeld and Friends for the first time. Now Dark Shadows' "flash forward" has come up in rotation. It has often been said that Dark Shadows' primary audience was made up of schoolchildren and housewives, but I think those two demographics are separate (and sequential). Back in the days when Josette was the ghost in residence and the vampire was first introduced, then I think it was housewives. But now the show has moved firmly into the science fictional realm of time travel and alternate dimensions, and I doubt there are many housewives left watching. the 1995 sequence will lead directly into the next two time jumps. It will soon get to the point at which I might expect Time Lord intervention (Doctor Pertwee, I imagine).

In 1966, Carolyn Stoddard was 18 years old. She's only 47 here, but she looks like she's been rode hard and put away wet.

NOTE to Rob: In 1063, the debut of "Mr. Sneery Face"!

    • Oh, THAT's Mister Sneery Face! I see what you mean.

As for Future Carolyn, Danny Horn described her as "pushing 50, and she looks like she's been pushing it with her face." Oof... but with that age makeup, pretty accurate. Then again, people aged quicker in those days (probably because smoking was so prevalent). I couldn't believe Mr. Carlson on WKRP was canonically 40 years old... and Gordon Jump, who played him, was the same age. Madness!

  • I've make to to episode 1070 -- all the way through the future storyline! Which I realize now isn't entirely a storyline on its own, but is also a vehicle for Barnabas and Julia to get back to the present with some clues about a tragedy they want to prevent. I hope it goes well!

Anyway, we've met Gerard and Daphne and another, younger, ghost, who danced with Ghost David (who I expect will still be alive upon their return to the present). Gerard killed Mrs. Johnson, Carolyn, and Stokes, leaving Quentin as the only Collins alive in 1995. Like Vincent Price, he's the sole survivor!

Julia has been posessed -- or at least has fallen under the control of -- Gerard, and has betrayed Barnabas several times, including to the sherrif, who tried to kill him. It's unlcear whether she'll still be under his spell after Gerard tried to kill her and then they fled to 1970. Time will tell!
