A while back, DC announced a new line of reprints, called DC Finest, that packages about 500 pages of comics from various eras into a $40 softcover. From all appearances, it looks to be an attempt to mimic Marvel's successful Epic Collections line, in which complete runs of their books are reprinted in similar paperbacks, but often out of order. So you might get Fantastic Four volume 3 (The Coming of Galactus) before volume 1 (the early stuff), but the volumes have all been mapped out, and gaps get filled in as time goes on.
DC announced a bunch of collections, ranging from the Golden Age (All-Star Comics, Superman) to the 2000s (Wonder Woman), with plenty in between. In October's solicitations, they've finally nailed down the contents for most of the announced books. Here's what's been announced so far.

DC has also announced three more for January, although the exact contents aren’t announced yet:
DC Finest: Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters – 21st of January, 2025
The most iconic stories starring Green Arrow! (From the cover, it looks like it’s the start of the Grell run, starting with The Longbow Hunters miniseries.)
DC Finest: Supergirl: The Girl of Steel – 14th of January, 2025
The earliest stories starring Supergirl! (Looks like Supergirl, from the beginning.)
DC Finest: Aquaman: The King of Atlantis – 7th of January, 2025
The earliest stories starring the King of the Seas: Aquaman! (Silver Age Aquaman, with Jack Miller, Robert Bernstein, and Ramona Fradon listed as creators.)
So for the purposes of discussion... which ones of these interest you the most? And looking forward, where would you go for the second volumes of these titles?
Replies
It might be controversial but I'd include Kamandi #50 where it's revealed that the Last Boy is OMAC's grandson, though it's never said that the grandfather who was killed in #1 was an elderly Buddy Blank.
Still, it does fit thematically and has Brother Eye in it.
Another possible dark horse DC Finest edition would be a DC Finest: Brainiac vollection. From what I understand, he'll be the main villain of the next Superman movie, and considering they fast-tracked another Supergirl DCF to get it out before the movie, they seem to be taking film & TV into consideration with some of their picks. Brainiac doesn't make his first appearance until 1958, so Jeff's Superman thread hasn't gotten to him yet (and likely won't for a while), but he's a villain I could definitely see DC wanting to put front and center on a variety of different levels before the next movie.
The solicitations that came out on Friday listed four upcoming DC Finest books:
May 19: Sgt Rock
May 26: Peter David Supergirl 2
June 9: Team-Ups 2
June 16: Robin
That leaves these 4 expected volumes for future solicitations.
June 23: Fourth World
July 14: Batman: Blind Justice
July 21: Suicide Squad: Nightshade Odyssey
July 28: Green Lantern: Hard-Traveling Heroes
(Also, there's the 50s Superman volume that was taken off the schedule.)
I expect it won't be too long before we start hearing about the next wave of collections!

Not a problem... I've got "The Silver Age Superman" covered HERE.
Also, there's the 50s Superman volume that was taken off the schedule.
That one was never on the schedule AFAIAC because it was never actually solicited.
As discussed elsewhere on the board just today, Superman from May 1950 to May 1958 has never been comprehensively reprinted. A 1950s DC Finest: Superman -- heck, a passel of 'em -- would be welcome (at least by me).
Me, too!
Not a problem... I've got "The Silver Age Superman" covered HERE.
Ha! of COURSE you do!

That one was never on the scedule AFAIAC because it was never actually solicited.
I guess it depends what schedule we're talking about. It never made the catalogues, true, but when it appeared on Penguin/Random House's website, it had a date attached.
I haven't posted DC's April solicitations yet, but they include these four books:

What’s better than seeing one hero fighting villains and saving the day? Seeing them team up with other heroes and using their complementary skills to get out of tight situations, that’s what! Collects Batman team-up tales from The Brave and the Bold #106-130, plus additional stories from Super-Team Family #1-7.
I'm assuming they mean Super-Team Family #2-3 as #1, 4-7 were all reprint.
I think I've read that we'll just be getting the covers of the reprint issues.
