  • Justice League: Rise and Fall nearly justifies the upheaval of Flashpoint but still does not excuse Red Hood & the Outlaws.

Those Flashpoint TPBs are cheaper than buying the originals! But why put them ALL out the same week?

Legends of the Dark Knight: Jim Aparo put a smile on my face. A bit pricey but with great art AND Bob Haney's B&B stories in HC! Wonderful!

  • The Flashpoint books seem to have been mainly drek, so DC is striking while the iron is hot. No-one is going to want to read these hurriedly spewed out books in a few months time. Fandom are duty-bound to put them out of their minds ASAP and move on to the next thing they're sold.
  • It looks like they're spread out over two different weeks... but the real question is, why put them out at all? The only one I can ever see myself revisiting is Flashpoint Batman, which was a pretty stylish re-imagining. Some of the others are serviceable, and a few (such as Kid Flash Lost) manage to be fun, but they're really of their time.

On the other hand, sooner or later that Aparo book will be mine!

  • Yeah, Aparo has more staying power than Flashpoint!

  • ...True , Philip , but the Aparo I REALLY want is his Phantom Stranger...

Finances preclude me (IIRC) replacing the Vol. 1 SP and maiden-buying the Vol. 2 , perhaps when the next holiday/birthday at my LCS allows me to maximum-use the Green Stamps-like coupons they give regulars , instead of a discount...

      However , DC , a COMPLETE, color , Phantom Stranger - the Atomic one , too ? - is wanted !!!!!!!!!!!

    ( And while I'm at it , how 'bout MUGGY-DOO , BOY CAT --- eh ??????????? )

Oh , and though I'll now check Amazon , did that Sugar & Spike Archives ever get let out of the walled-off playpen ??? :-)

  • The 50s Phantom Stranger which lasted six issues may have had Carmine Infantino art but it was hampered by the power of the Comic Code so the stories were hardly thrilling. The Stranger himself was a cipher so that stayed the same.

Also Showcase #80 and PS #1-3 were mostly reprints anyway of him and Doctor Thirteen. #4 was by Neal Adams but I do agree a color Aparo PS collection would great though moreso would be an Aparo Aquaman collection!

  • Didn't they just publish an Aparo Aquaman collection? The death of Aquababy?

  • True, I forgot that but then I never saw it at my LCS.

  • GL Chronicles #4!! Yes!
