1. The TARDIS flying in and skidding to a halt is a cool visual, maybe, but what's wrong with it just materializing like normal?
  2. "I knew Kate's Dad. He was the best of men."
  3. "13 years old. Accelerated genius." I gather that  Lenny Rush is actually 16 years old.
  4. "S Triad" is such an obvious anagram for "TARDIS" that it has to be a red herring.
  5. "Susan is the name of my granddaughter." And again, it's obviously not her.
  6. "Oh, no, I'm keeping this one for a long, long time." Sure, you are,
  7. "I love Davina." Its always interesting, hearing of someone wbho's a big deal somewhere else, and you have  no idea who they are.
  8. Rose: "They had me investigating shoplifting in Calford." Well, you are basically there because you're Donna's kid.
  9. "I would love a cup of tea." "Would you, sweetheart? Well, we'd all like a lot of things that aren't going to happen." Or, as they say in my country: "Yeah, and peopler in Hell want ice water."
  10. "But he never, ever mentioned a granddaughter." "I was a different Doctor back then, Kate."
  11. "What if I go back and ruin her?" "For what's it worth, Inthink you bring joy."
  12. The Doctor mocking the Time Window like it's an elementary school science project is funny.
  13. "I lost my family to the most terrible things."  I wonder if we'll ever get Mel's backstory. I know that it was originally supposed to involve the Master.
  14. Why is Ruby so sure thaat she was born on Christmas Eve? She could have been a few days old when she was abandoned. Would her mother have been in any condition to carry her to a church on foot in a blizzard right after giving  birth?
  15. "I wish I could tell her I made it."  Very  moving.
  16. "I know its name. It's the Beast." Henry McCoy.
  17. "Mel, take me to Susan Triad." "Take this bus to Cuba!"
  18. "Sullivan, take her and run." Any relation to Harry?
  19. "The scan says this lifeform is woven into the fabric of the TARDIS itself."  I have a hard time with the idea that Sutekh has been attached to the TARDIS undetected for the countless eons since "Pyramids of Mars".
  20. "Harriet Arbinger"
  21. "There is the Toymaker, the God of Games - whom we've seen recently.
  22. "There is Trickster, the God of Traps" - who mostly fought Sarah Jane.
  23. "There is Maestro, the God of Music" - whom we've seen even more recently.
  24. "There is Reprobate, the God of Spite" - no idea who this is.
  25. "There is the Mara, the god of Beasts" - seen in "Kinda" and "Snakedance".
  26. "And the threefold Deity  of Malice and Mischief and Misery" - consensus seems to be that these are the Gods of Ragnarok from "The Greatest Show in the Galaxy".
  27. "There are Gods of Skin and Shame and Secrets" - no idea.
  28. "There is Incensor, the God of Disaster, and the daughters, called Doubt and Drea" - no idea
  29. "Wherever it is, here it comes." "Walkin' down the street. Gettin' the funniest looks from everyone they meet."
  30. "His name has been Set. And Seth. And Sithifer." "And Shemp. And Zeppo. And Ms. Pac-Man, for some reason."
  31. "It was the wrong anagram." I hate when that happens.
  32. Sutelkh is well-realized -  reminiscent of his look from the 70's, but much more imposing, now.
  33. "I bring Sutekh's gift of milk death to all humanity."
  34. "Did you think I was family, Doctor?" Not really.
  35. Cliffhanger: Everybody's gonna die!
  36. Sutekh was definitely not  "god" in the old series, just a really advanced alien.
  37. "Voice of Sutekh - Gsbriel Woolf" - Bet that was a callback that her didn't expect.
  38. "Sutekh originally created by Lewis Greifer"  - Who? I've seen "Pyramids of Mars" a zillion times, but I don't  remember that name.  (Looks it up.) I see. That story was credited to "Stephen Harris", which was a pseudonym for Greifer and Bob Holmes.

Overall: This was pretty good, even though the story  logic creaked a bit in parts. IKt left me eager to see what hsppens next.

  • I remembered nothing about this episode, including any of the "Sue Triad" stuff... until I started re-watching it. Even then, I didn't remember how it was going to end. I think what happens is, I watch a series, then put it completely out of my mind until you have a chance to see it. Then I watch it again, as if for the first time. I remembered re-watching "Pyramids of Mars" recently, but I didn't remember why.

It left me eager to see what happens next.

Me, too! Actually, I do remember some of what happens in season two, but I'm keeping it to myself. (Even though you're not as concerned about spoilers as I am, I refuse to be "that guy.")
