1)I was never wild about the Cybermasters.  They're a step too powerful for my tastes.

2)It was nice seeing Tegan and Ace again. Beinteresting to learn how they met. I'd love to see them bring back Carole Ann Ford for one last go as Susan.  Be funnyto have her regenerate and have "Susan II"  continue on as a new companion.

3)Bishop, Gill and hittaker do well in his leaving scene. Dan had potential as a character, but circumstances were agianst him, coming along during th COVID-plagued (pun intended) era.

4)"I mean you no harm."  I like the idea of a renegade Dalek, although it occurs to  me that the Daleks might have deleiberately created a "traitor" as a trap for the Doctor..

5)"Your creator would both be impressed and horrified." No, he'd be pissed off.

6)I'm a little sketchy as to how it helped the Master's plan to pose as Rasputin. It's "Time-Flight" all over again.  Was there a real Rasputin at some point that he replaced?

7)"The arrival of the second Moon in the sky".  OK, I call BS on this. The appearanceof a second Moon would've changed human history, not to mention the gravity effects.

8)"That is a good look on you, Professor."  The reunion scene was well done.

9)"We used to be you, decades back."  Like Rose, Yaz doesn't take the idea that she's just the latest in a long line well.

10)Nice to see Vinder again. Not exactly sure how he cme o be there.

11)"Your Dad was an idiot." Well, yeah. but he meant well.

12)"How's your Auntie Vanessa? Do you keep her in a little doll's house?" a callback to "Logopolis".

13)"Last time I saw you, you were half-cat!" "A man's allowed to exxpriment.." A callback to "Survival".

14)"It also works in reverse"  I call BS on that, too. The Master sure is lucky that Tegan was dumb enough to cart that thing around with her, instead of  locking it up somewhere or bringing it  to UNIT to have it analyzed. But then, his plots have always bene overcomplicated and stupid.

15)"We long ago developed resistance to gold. " On the other hand, this makes perfect sense."

16)"Gotta dress for the occasion."  A callback to the TV movie.

17)"The Master's Dalek Plan"  Chibnall, you idiot.

18)I liked the bit wher the Cyberman and the Dalekgave ech other a "WTF?"  look while the Master was doing his "happy loony" dance.

19)"I am the Doctor, and you will obey me!"  Well, that was inevitable.

20)The Master's "Doctor" outfit is amusing.

21)On the DVD commentary track, Chinall says that the tune that the Mastyer plays on the recorder is one that the Troughton Doctor played.

22)Nice seeing the older Doctors again.  Such distincitve voices those guys have.

23)"Wicked" Ah, Ace.

24)"I am fun." "Different type of fun, but fun."

25)Nice to see Fielding and Davison together again.

26)"Adric".  Not a name that I ever expected to hear on the new show.

27)Especially nice to see Aldred and McCoy together again. Good to see the character of Ace get a little closure.

28)"We're more than good, we're Ace."

29)Nice to see Grahm again, too. A shame Tosin Cole wasn't available. Be funny if Grahan and Ace paired off.

30)If the Daleks and the Cybermen are in 1916, why are the volcanos erupting in 2022?

31)Nice to see the Fugitve Doctor again. "Schoolboy error. But then, you were a rubbish schoolboy, too."

32)"I've only just signed the lease."

33)"Where's Ryan?" "Patagonia." OK.

34)"Extended fam".

35)The Doctor and Yaz's goodbye scene was nice, too. "I think I need to do this next bit alone."

36)And then we get the comedy team of Graham and Dan.

37)The "Companons Support Group" was a nice idea.  It was good seeing Jo, Mel (no idea hiow she got back to present-day Earth) and especially Ian again.  I gather that William Russell now holds the Guinness World's Record for longest time between appearances as the same character on the same TV show.

38)"Sorry, did you say 'her'?"

39)"Blossomiest blossom"  -That's a callback to the Pertwee Era, although I'm dry on the specific episode.

40)"Tag. You're it."

41)"I know these teeth."  I'm not all that wild about Tennant coming back. It feels like a step backwards.  It makes me wonder if someone somewhere said, "We're replacing a conteroverisal woman Doctor with a controversial non-white Doctor, let's bring back a fan-favorite white guy to ease the transition." that said, i'll give them the beneift of the doubt at least until I've seen what they come up with next.

42)"What? What?  What?" Oh, dear God, will someone please teach RTD a second joke?

43)Bonnie Langford was credited as ""Melanie Bush" , which I believe id the first time that Mel's family name was given onscreen.

Overall: An OK episode with some good character moments and lots of bits for us aging fanboys. I thought Dhawan overdid it a bit in parts, and the Master's plot was crap, but that's par for the course.

  • I'm a little confused. The most recent DVD I have is "Revolution of the Daleks." I generally keep them on DVR until I buy the disc, but I've been holding off buying some of the more recent ones because (I have found) that the specials are often left off the first version of a set then added later. I have eight episodes saved, but according to your index there are nine. I think the one I'm missing is "Legend of the Sea Devils." (I do not know why I didn't respond to "Eve of the Daleks.") Now let's see what you had to say about "The Power of the Doctor."

It was nice seeing Tegan and Ace again... I'd love to see them bring back Carole Ann Ford

All three are active at Big Finish (as you know).

The appearance of a second Moon would've changed human history, not to mention the gravity effects.

OTOH, Mondas seems to have been largely forgotten.

    Nice to see Vinder again.

Tracy knows him from Game of Thrones.

Be funny if Graham and Ace paired off.

I thought that, too! "1963? Just how old are you, young lady?"

Nice to see the Fugitive Doctor again.

I hope they wrap up the mystery of the Fugitive Doctor sooner rather than later.

The "Companions Support Group" was a nice idea.

There are other still-living former companions; I would have liked to have seen more.

It was good seeing Jo, Mel (no idea hiow she got back to present-day Earth)

...or how she first came to travel with the Doctor in the first place.

It makes me wonder if someone somewhere said, "We're replacing a controverisal woman Doctor with a controversial non-white Doctor, let's bring back a fan-favorite white guy to ease the transition."

The way I heard it was the new guy will not be available for the 60th anniversary so they brought back a fan favorite.

An OK episode with some good character moments and lots of bits for us aging fanboys.

I particularly liked seeing all the former Doctors, both old and new. I think I was more pleased with it the first time thoiugh than the second; the plot holes become more apparent the second time through.
