Our favorite Time Lord has gotten a lot of web space here and on other Internet sites.

I started the timeline below at the beginning of the new era (2005), and have been keeping it up to date as each new episode airs here in America of Doctor Who and its spinoffs: Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

With the new season (# 6 for the current series, the second for Doctor #11, Matt Smith) fast approaching, I thought I would share my notes with everyone.

The actual timeline appears in the next post.

  • Doctor Who Season 1 (2005) Christopher Eccleston
    NOTE:
Whether the ninth Doctor is just a result of or actually fought in the often referenced Time War between Gallifrey and the Daleks is uncertain, since this event has never been committed to film and continuity varies between the books and the audio dramas.

The Sarah Jane Adventures: Season 4 (2010)

STILL no United States broadcaster! Will be on DVD eventually.

Show has been renewed through Season 6, and season 4 WILL feature a team up with the Eleventh Doctor and the return of former companion Jo Grant (Katy Manning)!

The 2010 Doctor Who Christmas Movie: A Christmas Carol (with newlyweds Rory and Amy)

Doctor Who 2011 Comedy Relief Charity Segment: Space/Time (Two part mini-adventure with newlyweds Amy and Rory. Canonicity questionable, but does not affect events on either side of it.)

    Doctor Who Season 6>Part 1? (2011)

Season 6 will start with The Doctor and the newlyweds, and some scenes of the opening adventure (if not additional footage to be used elsewhere within the course of the season as well) were filmed in the United States! Season is rumored to be in split in two with a mid-season cliffhanger in between. Details to be announced, but will be followed by a 2011 Christmas movie.

    Torchwood Season 4 (2011)

To be first aired on the Starz Cable channel Summer 2011.

The Sarah Jane Adventures: Season 5 (2011)

Doctor Who Season 6>Part 2 (If the season IS split in two)

Both are scheduled for this fall, so which is first, and if one affects/crosses over with the other, remains to be seen.

I know some of the above details seem a bit cryptic, but besides not wanting to spoil anything for someone who somehow might not have seen everything (like the unaired Sarah Jane Adventures), I prefer to deal in facts and not rumors. So until I see an episode for myself...

  • That's neat, Lee. Thanks for sharing.
  • You should check out the "Timeline" group.
  • So is this still the British version of the Torchwood to be aired this year or the rumored American version?
  • It will be the joint Starz/BBC production.
