Briefly, among other things, this is going to be my thread where I try to get caught up with the modern Doctor Who universe before the incoming Doctor's run officially starts, figuring that this would be an excellent -- ulp:-) -- "jumping (back) on" point !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will ask some basics of my buds/pals here .
Maybe you will say "I should check Wikipedia", but I think that such writing would be TMI-tending, not to mention (naturally) tending to be British-dominated.
At this time , I've splurged on two consecutive DWMs , marking Capaldi's intro .
As I've said, I was a fan during the "interregnum years", rather being not able to follow the Ninth Doctor after the first few episodes shown on Sci-Fi here (I think the one with the Britney "Toxic" quote was my last one).
I'm not up on the plethora of "off-continuity" issues, especially the audio drammys, in modern years -- I am, not to complain unduly but it is the truth, sorta poor, and the only audio I've heard IIRC was that one specially done for a shrinkwrapped-within DWM bonus CD back when I bought it more frequently ...

Yeah, I have a couple of those free audios DWM used to give away. Some of them were pretty entertaining.

That one was the second episode.
I've had a suspicion that BBC TV and the SciFi channel have taken bits out of the episodes I've seen.
...You mean BBC America , yes ?????????
I have pointed out that , " natural home " for the series Stateside though it may be , the series moving to BBC America from what was still Sci-Fi
at that point IIRC sort of points the glass ceiling " on w
what the series' popularity level is likely limited at in America - In some markets , though , don't PBS stations show second runs of the modern series ? Not here they don't .
...The last season ? Even the last Doctor's (pre-Capaldi) finish ?

They showed "The Name of the Doctor," the last episode prior to the 50th anniversary episode, about three weeks ago. I don't believe they've shown either of the two specials yet.
...Okay - at'sa nice :-) - thank you .
I occasionally HAVE considered moving to " America's Ireland "...

They started the 2011 episodes again last Saturday night.
...Thank you .
Someone here reviewed the recent audio which involved an alternate universe where John Brown & the Plain Men , the rock group briefly referenced in " An Earthly Child " , fill the Beatles' place in our universe .
I have tended to be so poor/behind that I never have actually SEEN " AUC " !!!!!!!!!!! Poor me . :-(
It's reviewed in those two DWMs , as are two others which , from their description , interest me - one , a story involving the Doctor and Susan's initial journey/taking it on the lam from Gallifrey , which introduces another character , someone working on the Tardis/nearby when it is stolen by the Doctor and who so is swept along with them ~ and becomes physically scarred because?? of that , and so becomes a villain ~ and a Seventh Doctor (sort of " my " Doctor) + Ace story with the phrase " Assassination " in the title - set in late November 1963 !!!!!!!!! Now , I don't expect many American references in WHO , after all a British show , but in this case ~ (And considering the facts of the day the show was first broadcast ~ Oh , and that " Who Killed Kennedy ? " 90s novel .) ~ come on !!!!!!!!!!!
