What a piece of crap. 18 of its 20 pages were done in "funny animal" style. (Okay, I guess that makes it 90% crap.) I wish I had flipped through it befor I bought it. Oh, well. at least there were two issues of Stray Bullets last week to make up for it.

I'm with Jeff of J.
Had this been a Chris Eliopoulis special one-shot issue (outside of the regular series), it would have been one thing. But this one had a regularish-looking cover that fooled this reader into picking it up. It felt very very much like a filler issue.
First this title got delayed for 2 months between #12 and #13, and then there was a one month delay after #14. Which was followed by the release of #16, and then #15 showed up a month later. Now this nonsense.
This book seems like it is completely off the rails. Used to be a great book. It's a shame.
It really is. Seriously. I'm not sure what's going on. I mean, it has to be an artist problem, right? Matt Fraction is writing it (well, most of it, judging by this last issue...). It's almost like he really wishes this was a Kate series, but he has to have some Clint in there also just to carry the title.
Maybe Matt Fraction had a really great pitch, but it never really got beyond the pitch?
To me, this series has always moved at a slow pace, and back and forth in time. So I don't have a problem with something like this--it reminds me of the Pizza Dog issue. Also, I like Chris Eliopoulis as an artist. I found this to be fun and charming.
I have a gut feeling this series may get rebooted soon, and probably without artist David Aja. Here's a link to an article at Bleeding Cool that shows the original solicits for #17, 18, and 19 had to be moved around. Aja's issue was moved from #17 to #19 and the other were bumped up.

In the comments, someone mentioned that Aja drew #9 (Apr) and #11 (June), and someone else drew #10 and #12. Aja's next issue was #13 (Oct), which was 3 months after #12; his next issue was #15 (Feb) - which was released after #16. And now #19, not #17, will be Aja's next issue. He's clearly not able to do a monthly.
Yeah, that makes some sense.
I will say this. One day, this will all make a fantastic omnibus of very experimental storytelling with, hopefully, some back matter that will tell all about the crazy stories about the incredibly weird pacing of this book.
Sounds like that Spider-Man issue that was drawn by Fred Hembeck. Except back then there was a reason, it was meant for Assistant Editor's Month, and Marvel warned it would get weird that month.
