I have been invited to participate in a scholarly panel discussion on "The Philosophy of Comic Culture: How the Ubiquity of Comics Speak to Modern Life and the Human Condition." It's tomorrow evening, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
It's part of the Beacon Salon Series at Beacon College in Leesburg, Florida. Beacon College was the first in the nation accredited to award bachelor degrees exclusively to students with learning disabilities and ADHD.
How did I get tapped to be a learned expert on the subject of comic books? Well, I do have a long association with the friendliest and most accurate comics website on the Internet, I am a professional journalist, and I've been reading comic books for more than half my life.
Plus, it doesn't hurt that the head of the college p.r. department was a fellow ink-stained wretch ... and is my son's godfather.
