Entertainment Weekly has reported a (possibly debunked) rumor that Marvel is planning a Black Panther movie. This got me thinking about who could play T'challa, and I was thinking of coming here to speculate.
Then I saw Philip Portelli's Angie Harmon Wants to be She-Hulk! thread, and that conflated ideas in my head.
So I know this is a comic fan discussion as old as time, and I think we've done it on this board more than twice (I expect ClarkKent_DC to cite chapter and verse of previous discussions), but let's throw this out as an open just-for-fun thread:
Who would you cast in what comic book role?

Re. the initial question of the Black Panther, my first thought was Chiwetel Ejiofor, possibly best known for his role as The Operative in Serenity.
I had a whole very cool (IMO) cast made for a movie based on Batman: The Long Halloween. Well, except for the mafia people... for them, I just used cast members from The Sopranos, I'm pretty sure. Anyway, here's what I remember from it:
Batman: George Clooney (insisting that he was a better actor than his performance in his other Batman movie...)
Commissioner Gordon: Tom Skerritt
Catwoman: Fran Drescher (hey, this was about ten years ago...probably more... I just wanted to hear her "meow")
Riddler: Paul Reubens
Two-Face: Gary Sinise
Calendar Man: John Malkovitch
Scarecrow: Crispin Glover
Poison Ivy: Lisa Kudrow (just remember imagining her like Neil Gaiman's Poison Ivy from Secret Origins...just being really flirtatious and innocent and working men that way.)
If I were choosing from my era, I'd go with James Edwards as the Black Panther and Irish McCalla as She-Hulk.
Batman: George Clooney (insisting that he was a better actor than his performance in his other Batman movie...)
That "other Batman movie" gets better every time I watch it. In fact, it may be my favorite of that cycle. Everyone in that movie knows exactly what he's doing, and does a pretty good job of it (including Clooney). The problem wasn't that the movie was bad, it just wasn't the movie anyone was expecting or really wanted at the time (including me). 15 years later, I think it's a hoot.
This is a good topic. I need to give it some thought before I answer, though.
Every time I see Victor Garber in something, I think that he would be a great Bruce Wayne/Batman in his later years actor.
