At my new LCS ( About which more later . ) , the head man , no less , replied when I asked if/when Marvel was going to re-start the traditional " Big Four " of Disney comic books ( You know which ones , right ? ) , the " Ducks and Mice " ( D&M ) ones...That , at present , Marvel was only announcing reprints?? of the comics versions of Pixar concepts that Boom! Kids had done before , and he was unclear what form these were taking...and that Marvel's present toppers , Quesada and all the rest , didn't want to do the D&M titles...Now , really , other than publishing them , Marvel need not take any great effort in doing D&M titles , just pick up someone suitable to do it , who would likely contact primarly the present-day creators of them , who are primarily European...Now , this does beggar the question ( Using that correctly ????? ) of " Why did , at least , Marvel ( Presumably . ) not let Boom! renew their liscence for the D&Ms in the first place ??? " - Also , ( No doubt this might be running through some suited heads in Burbank . ) " Um - Who bought who ??? Was it the Spider , or the Mouse ???!! " !
Now , if Marvel really doesn't want to do the D&M ( Because of the 90s attempt at MarvelDisney turning out , I suppose , not too well about three?? corporate regimes back ? ) , now , granted , perhaps an " enlightened despot/dictator " shouldn't force his minions unduly...But , why did they buy Marvel in the first place ???????

Why did Disney buy Marvel in the first place?
Believe you me, it wasn't so they could make Marvel publish Disney comic books. They had bigger fish to fry, like continuing the efforts by Marvel to create movie franchises for its characters, and adding the movies to its library of films and TV series, and merchandising the heck out of all of it.
THAT'S why Disney bought Marvel.
I'd love to see a Robin Hood book with the Disney version's fox.
And yep, ClarkKent_DC is right. The buyout wasn't to get Disney comics on the stands. The buyout was to build up Disney's attractiveness to young males. It's got the girls with the princesses and fairies, but it has lacked significant "boy friendly" properties for at least a decade and a half (Aladdin, Toy Story). Only "Cars" has managed to crack that market and kids age out of that really quickly. On top of that, Disney's ownership of all the Pixar works was really shaky for a while, so they were probably very happy to pull Spider-Man and his amazing friends under its umbrella!
....Yes , I realize and realized that , having some comic books out on the stands is small potatoes/yesterday's Wolfgang Puck special to the Mouse House , and they could just get someone else to put out D&M comics ( I had heard that Boom! still had the " Generation Y touchstones " old TV Dis-properties , Darkwing & Ducktails - that so ??? You'd think Marvel might take over those and let Boom! keep the D&M...)...But , anyway , heard this story about Quesada's unwillingness before ?????
What is going to happen to the " Big Four " ?
