    Maybe the arc will be someone has finally cracked the super soldier serum and created an army.  In recent years we've seen armies of Iron Men, and Hulks, and we're now in the midst of an army of Norse hammer throwers and spider-people.  It's Cap's turn, I guess.

    Also a whole world full of Supermen and Batman being 'franchised', the Green Lantern Corps being re-established (which gets a pass, I suppose).

     

    This is what happens when creators can't ....create new stuff more relevant to the times we are in, and end up giving us more comics that are merely about other comics.

    Didn't they do this with just about EVERY character in the Marvel Universe already?!

    Unless more than one means two. Another Super-Soldier survivor? Bucky? A long lost sibling? A clone? I've seen all this in multiple titles over the years! Meh.

    I think Figs is right. Marvel has done a great job for years of doing self-referential stories about their own universe. "Comics about other comics." But we all of us want to grow a bit.

    Considering that all we have to work on is a red star and IF we believe that means the Red Guardian, there are a few issues to deal with:

    • The first Red Guardian appeared in only one story in the Silver Age as the Black Widow's thought-to-be-dead husband who died for real. He was brought in the Widowmaker mini but I have my doubts. But why would readers now care about him?
    • The Bronze Age had the female Red Guardian in The Defenders but she was altered so much into another character, Starlight, that the RG connection seems a moot point.
    • Nowadays, the Red Guardian is an extremely replaceable Russian hero, portrayed by many and dying frequently. Hardly the most desirable person to base a major event on.
    • They already had two Captain Americas running around and Marvel thought that was too confusing.
    • Doesn't the Captain America Corps mini cover the same territory?
