  • Um, I hope this is the work of a cover artist only, and not the actual work of Mico Suayan. That picture of Starfire looks like it belongs in Lady Death or Shi from the mid-90's.

  • Well, you're right that it's supposed to look like "bad girl", but I get the feeling it's supposed to go for that "Penthouse slut" look. I mean, look at her teeth. Oh, yeah...and her chest.

Starfire? I thought it was an especially deranged take on Dark Phoenix ...

  • It's a shame Lobdell is being taken off of this comic, as he's doing a pretty good job with it.

  • Lady Death, good call, WS. That is who she looks like to me just not as pale.

  • It occurs to me, now that it's been mentioned, that the artist is probably at the right age to have been tracing or copying Lady Death in the mid-'90s in his mid-teens. It's possible that's where he learned to draw.

On the other hand, when I was 13 I was tracing and copying John Buscema, but I didn't end up drawing like John Buscema, or even Sal Buscema.
