Every week, one item or another in my pull and hold stands out for me above the rest in one way or another. Sometimes it’s a periodical, sometimes a graphic novel, sometimes a collection. Does that happen to you? If so, let’s hear about it here. It can be an item you’ve long anticipated or something you bought on a whim. If it’s something you were really looking forward to but ended up being a big disappointment, let’s hear about that here, too. I’ve been meaning to start this topic for a long time now, but chose today to post about something I’ve been waiting for a long time, long before it was even solicited.
SILVER SURFER EPIC COLLECTION BY STEVE ENGLEHART AND MARSHAL ROGERS
This is a favorite run of mine, but I’ve read it only twice: once as it was released, and I re-read it once after that. It came out as an “ESSENTIAL” a few years ago, but for this I held out for color.
EDIT: Most weeks I make my picks before I have read them, but feel free to choose either the books you anticipate most before you read or enjoy the most after you have read them.

If anyone doesn't know, it's the issue with Aquaman's Silver Age origin.
Now I'm sure that I read this issue when it came out.
I haven't read this one yet, but it's the only new comic I bought today so it is, by default, my "Pick of the Week." I've been reading quite a few Tom King series recently, and this one has been previewed in Tom King's Wonder Woman, but oddly, I haven't been reading those installments. This is one of three new comics I considered buying today, but I put the other two back on the shelf.
I have no idea why DC chose to reprint Young Romance #125 at this particular time, but it's a nice refreshing change of pace.
Any week when not one but two Tom King books ships is a good one, but I'm going to give the nod to the last issue of Robert Kirkman and Chris Samnee's Fire Power. I'm just finishing up Mark Waid's Daredevil with Chris Samnee, which has really put me in the mod for a Fire Power read-through.
I'll go ahead and post my pick in advance this week...
MAUI MIGHTY COMICS #1:
I'm a sucker for these "pseudo-Charlton" heroes, and besides, all of the profits go to Maui relief.
(W) Roger McKenzie, Various (A) Steven Butler, Various (CA) Steven Butler, Sandy Carruthers
After the headlines have faded, the effects of the disastrous Maui fires are still being felt. #1 Comics has responded with Maui Mighty Comics, a fund raiser comic for which all of the proceeds will go to Maui relief! Roger McKenzie, Steven Butler and Mort Todd deliver two Mr. Mixit tales, Rene King Thompson and Sandy Carruthers introduce Ms. Molecule, the hero who shrinks from danger(!), and McKenzie and Ben Torres revive Charlton's martial arts legend, Yang! Also included is a remastered classic Charlton tale of Captain Mercury by Joe Gill and Rocke Mastroserio!
The week I'll give the nod (in advance of shipping) to...
HELEN OF WYNDHORN: This Gothic sword and sorcery epic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely (the Eisner award-winning and bestselling creative team of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow) has been described as "Conan the Barbarian meets The Wizard of Oz."
Absolutely, hands down.
So few of today's crop of writers appeal to me that when a series by a more experienced writer (in this case, J.M. DeMatteis) appears I feel obligated to give it the nod.
