  • Looks nice.  Now I have to remember if I actually bought 601.

  • It came out yesterday, and featured the gang finding out Torch is alive, as well as pitting the Annihilation Wave against the Kree Armada.

  • I don't know why I never noticed this before now, but has anyone else noticed the coloring of the hexagons between the surviving FF members?

    The one on top of Reed's uniform is blank. The lower left of Ben's is, while it's the lower right of Sue's.

    1, 2, and 3.

    Granted, there are not that many options in the arrangement to begin with and they will probably be going back to the old blue uniforms soon because of Johnny's return, but who said SHE should be third?

    Hope I'm not opening a can of worms here by pointing this out.

  • who says you have to count left to right? Sue could be #2 and Ben #3. Or why do you need to count at all? If they symbolize a molecule, which seems likely, then there's no up or down, left or right, or counting at all. One atom of one kind of element connects with two atoms of a different element wherever it can. Another way to look at it is that it's the same symbol on all the uniforms, only rotated 120 degrees.

    Which I guess answers your first question, too. The instant I saw the new symbols, I started thinking about what they meant. I'm anal that way.

    One thing that occurred to me is that the most common compound I can think of with one kind of atom connected to two other atoms of a different element is H2O -- water. I haven't any idea what this would mean, though. The original four (before Spidey) represented the four elements of ancient Greek philosophy (there were actually five, if you count ether), and Reed was the water avatar. Since I can't believe that all of them are water now, I guess that's not what it means.

  • Cap:

    If you want to get all analytic about this, here's how I've always seen the original quartet:

    Reed= brains/intelligence

    Ben= brawn/strength

    Sue= passion/heart

    Johnny= impulse/fire

    How that might translate into stretching and invisibility concerning Reed and Sue respectively, I have no idea.

    As to your water theory, when its whole, whether frozen or liquid, how can you tell one drop from another? The family aspect of this team has always been emphasized, and there's nothing more united than water.

    Then again, maybe we're over thinking this, but it makes you wonder what was on Jonathan Hickman and company's collective minds when planning what we're reading now.
