I was watching the Savage/Warrior "retirement" match on disk last night, and it came to the ending where Elizabeth threw Sherri out of the ring, and the thought came to me, "Both of these women are dead now, it's depressing."

His book says as much, that he lived the lifestyle, even if the income was not there. And remember, he's twice divorced too, but you really can't blame the ex-wives. Flair obviously has vastly outspent his actual earnings many times over, and for a few decades now.
I saw Lawler on a street corner waving at traffic yesterday afternoon. I waved back. I tweeted at him last night, and he tweeted back this morning. Tweets from Lawler and the Iron Sheik in the same week!
R.I.P., Captain Lou Albano.

Mark Evanier, of all people, has a story about him.

Ah, shame. I'd just heard the other day that he was sick, and now "The Guiding Light" has gone out.

Some say the man's not wrapped too tight,
Captain Lou, Captain Lou, Captain Lou
But when he's on the scene, everything's alright,
Captain Lou, Captain Lou Albano.
With a man of a thousand faces,
I know we'll be goin' places (HEY!)
I'm gonna stick with "The Guiding Light,"
Captain Lou, Captain Lou Albano.
Lou don't worry 'cuz it's figured in,
Captain Lou, Captain Lou, Captain Lou
And he's got sharp teeth like Rin Tin Tin,
Captain Lou, Captain Lou Albano.
With a man of a thousand faces,
I know we'll be goin' places (HEY!)
We'll stick with the "Light" through thick and thin,
Captain Lou, Captain Lou Albano.

(Instrumental)

Captain Lou, Captain Lou, Captain Lou
Captain Lou, Captain Lou Albano.
Captain Lou, Captain Lou Albano.
With a man of a thousand faces,
I know we'll be goin' places (HEY!)
I'm gonna stick with "The Guiding Light,"
Captain Lou, Captain Lou Albano.
Captain Lou, Captain Lou Albano.
Captain Lou, Captain Lou Albano.

(REPEAT & FADE)

"They're talking about me!
Captain Lou Albano!
Maker of champions, baby!
Twelve tag-team champions!
I take them, I mold them,
I think it's charisma, it's pandemonium!
It's psychedelic pandemonium!
Ah ha ha ha ha ha! I, am "the Guiding Light," ha ha!
I'm where it's at! Ah YEAH! CLCLA,
80%, 60% of the net, 80% of the gross, 45% of the beef,
72% of the weight, 83% of the gross, 87% of the net,
60% of the what?, 40% of the gross, 32%, 22%,17%,19%,
12%, 8%, 84563Iforgot, 12, 9, 8,24563, sound off.
This story was breaking news on my local sports station....
I was reading about Capt Lou just yesterday. I didn't know before then that he'd gone to the University of Tennessee on football scholarship.
So, what did he do to tick off Dad?
Not sure. I've long heard rumors that he was being edged "out of power" by Steph and Hunter, and/or that he strongly disagreed with the direction they wanted to take the company in. I've no idea if that's true, but if it were, then maybe he just decided to get out and see what he could do on hid own.
Tonight's show was probably recorded Tuesday night, so they may have a title card for him.
Huh. I just read that Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have both signed contracts with TNA. So now Hogan, Bischoff, Kevin Nash and Vince Russo are all employed by the same wrestling promotion. It seems like we've seen this scenario somewhere before...

By the way, weren't Hulk and Uncle Eric planning to launch a major Australian-based promotion as little as two weeks ago? Whatever happened to those plans?
Perhaps ROH will now be able to step up to the #2 position.
