I have no idea why DC sent me this for review, since they haven't sent me any others for a long time, so I have no idea what's going on.
But you know what? It's a good little issue. It moves several plots along that I know nothing about, but the characterization was so charming, and the structure of the story was so professional, that I had no problem barreling along with a smile on my face.
And yet, no matter how in command of a story the writer is in a comic book, it takes the artist to put the ball over the line. Artist Russ Braun does so. His art is strong, clean and pleasing, and at every step advances the story. It's very, very good.
Man, I'm gonna miss Fables and Fairest when they're gone.

You and me both.
Wouldn't this be Fairest #28, not Fables
Fair point! Fixed.
Fairest is an arc-based anthology. Is #28 the start of a new arc? The book should be winding down fairly soon; I know Mark Buckingham is writing the last arc in it. Maybe DC is giving an extra push to promote the finale?
