From Variety"Tony Rosato, ‘Saturday Night Live’ Alum, Dies at 62"

Tony Rosato was on Saturday Night Live in the year after producer Lorne Michaels quit and all the original cast members (and Bill Murray, who wasn't an original cast member) decided they weren't going to do the show without him. Before that, he was on SCTV, the late-night sketch comedy show that NBC carried as a companion with The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson

I also remember him from a recurring bit he did on Night Heat, a late-night cop drama on CBS in the early '80s. It was made in Canada on a $1.98 budget, and CBS carried it because they knew everybody would be watching Carson anyway, so why put any money into something nobody's going to see? Rosato played the confidential informant -- i.e., snitch -- of the two NYPD detectives running around Toronto while pretending they were in Manhattan.
