So What Happens Next?

Now that most series are on their final hiatus of the year before coming back with new episodes starting in mid-April to finish out the 2010-2011 television season, one has to wonder how their seasons will end and what we might have to look forward to next year.

With that in mind, I'm prepared to go out on a limb and make a few predictions as to how the shows I watch will end this May.

Castle: Becket will get engaged, but not to the title character.

NCIS: Another team, if not cast shake up, and this time of the permanent variety.

NCIS Los Angeles: Callan's past comes back to affect the team in the present, and if the NCIS prediction comes true, that might affect the next season of this show too as the displaced cast member might wind up here.

Law and Order Special Victims Unit: Detective Munch retires, for we have hardly seen actor Richard Belzer all season as it is.

Bones: Tempe and Booth finally realize what the rest of the cast and the audience have known since practically the pilot episode.

Mentalist: Season will end with Patrick Jane face to face with Red John!

Obviously I'm not watching as much television as I used to. But then again, making predictions does not apply to shows that have already finaled (The Cape, Human Target), are from other sources (the British version of Being Human, The Adventures of Merlin, and Law and Order UK), 'reality' programs (America's Funniest Home Videos), have yet to resume (Sanctuary, which has been renewed for another season!), or are ending this season (Smallville).

  • Castle: Becket and Castle had two situations recently that seemed to be completely inescapable death traps and yet they didn't declare their love for each other. I don't think that they're going to be together. Becket and her Doctors Without Borders boyfriend do seem a good match, though.

Bones: I know that I'm in the minority when I state that Tempe is not lovable. She's a robot. Data had more emotion than she does..and a better understanding of humanity. Booth and Bones being together will make a lot of people happy but not me.

Chuck: I'm betting on a wedding for the final episode, be it season or series.

House: Cuddy tosses House out on his rear, professionally and personally.

V: The Visitors' villainy is revealed to humanity.

  • I know that they're adding a new character on Hawaii 5-0, a possible love interest for MacGarret.

Bones is one of my favorites. I didn't think that she was that lovable either but she grew on me and we see her vulnerablities throughout the series. But yeah she and Booth must have a strong sense of denial!

  • CSI Miami: Horatio Caine has been getting closer and closer to the edge all season, violating suspects' rights, torturing them for confessions, etc. That situation's going to come to a head for the season finale.
  • No Ordinary Family:  IMDB confirms we haven't seen the last of Joshua.  I predict he'll return and redeem himself by sacrificing his life to save Katie and the Powells from Dr. King.
