  • Tambi crosses over into this issue, meaning that Echo and Strangers in Paradise occur in the same fictional universe. This is a very exciting development!
  • Gah! I bailed on SIP, so this is not good news to me.
  • I was disappointed that SIP became a thriller novel instead of the alternative rom-com it started out. I interviewed him once, and he said he started changing it because he didn't think that the original premise was "serious" enough to attract interest. I thought it was way more entertaining before the secret organizations, billionaire friends and assassins for hire got involved.

But he apparently likes that. So having Tambi cross over seems to fit. I don't know what he's planning next, but I have a feeling he won't be going back to the rom-com stuff I like best of his.

That's exactly why I bailed. He had created a cast of memorable characters, and it was fun to watch their relationships play out. As the story became increasingly embroiled in those thriller elements I found myself no longer getting what I enjoyed about the story in the first place.
  • Jenn loved SIP and I thought it was OK. I wouldn't have kept reading it if she weren't. Neither of us enjoyed Echo, though, and we dropped it pretty quickly. She did find it interesting when I just told her about the shared universe but not enough to renew interest in Echo.
