To-day is the 55th anniversary of the Buddy Holly , and 3 others , -killing plane crash of 1959 .

In Yahoo! (I know . I know .) , entering " Buddy Holly plane crash " will put on the top , a rather dry listing in the Lubbock , TX paper of Holly-memorializing events , and stories in a North Dakota?? paper and People Magazine that I haven't checked out yet .

Doubtless , there's more , including presumably Richie Valens (native to this area , in fact) and Big Bopper-specific observations .

  • Ritchie Valens (born Richard Valenzuela) was a few months short of his 18th birthday when the plane crashed. He's buried in the cemetery at the San Fernando Mission in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley.
