The Flash -- Season 6

We've been reimiss about commenting the Arrowverse shows this season, save for the Crisis On Infinite Earths -- so much so that I couldn't find a thread about The Flash for this season. So I started one. (If there is one, someone please point me to it; I'll gladly kill this one.)

  • I felt the desire to talk about this week's episode. Since the Crisis, Iris has spent a lot of time trapped in a mirror dimension -- far too much time -- and only recently has learned her fellow inmant, Eva, is actually her captor.

Worse, Eva sent a fake Iris into our world to take her place, a mirror image. Iris from the Mirrorworld -- I've heard one wag call her "Siri," which is perfect -- has totally fooled everyone, which is annoying because it's caused this plot to drag on longer than it needs to. Worse, it makes Team Flash look stupid, because it means Joe doesn't recognize his daughter's been replaced by a fake, not to mention District Attorney Cecile, who has unexplained psychic powers and also should have spotted the fake before anyone.

And then there's Barry. We've been told over and over that Barry and Iris have a loving, mystic, unshakable bond; he certainly should have realized it. Well, two episodes ago, he finally tumbled that something was wrong because Siri overplayed her hand; she picked a fight with Barry when Joe had to go into Witness Protection and kicked Barry out of the house.

In the latest episode, Barry spent a lot of time trying to convince Cecile and Nash that Iris was replaced. However, Eva figured out what he was up to and sabotaged the device Barry was going to use on Siri to expose her; instead, it made Barry look like the fake. Consequently, they toss Barry into a cell in the Pipeline. But Cecile sees more of Siri's antics and lets Barry out.

Barry and Siri get into a battle, with her turning her arms into blades, and also using the mirrors in the room as darts to slash at him. Meanwhile, Eva has Iris tied to a chair in the Mirrorworld. But here, The Flash the show remembered something it doesn't always: Iris is not a damsel in distress. Even tied to a chair, with nothing but words to strike at Eva, Iris got the upper hand. And Iris's verbal fight with Eva weakened Siri in her fight with Barry.

Unfortunately, the episode did not end with Iris getting free, as I had hoped. But we're closer, which is good. Looking forward to next week.

  • Now we're going to see the Pied Piper as a bad guy again, plus .....Godspeed! I understand they were planning on ending the season with yet another appearance of Eobard Thawne. I definitely don't want to see Thawne again and would rather not see any more speedsters, which became boring a long time ago. I like that they will be using Pied Piper and have been using the "Mistress of Mirrors(?)." Nice to have a little variety.

And, yes, I thought that Cecile's mind-reading power, imperfect as it is, should have uncovered the mirror-doubles.
