I thought I'd share this bit of convergence/coincidence/synchronicity with my pals on the Ask Mr. Silver Age Forum. For a while now I've been collecting Henry Pym related sketch cards from Fred Hembeck, who auctions dozens of characters on eBay nearly every week. After I finished my collection of SA Pym identities, I started looking for related villains. I won the bid for the Human Top and it arrived the same day as I read Tales to Astonish #68, the Top's last appearance and Giant-Man's next-to-last appearance in that title as a headliner.
The Top's comments about his own old costume and Fred's interpretation made me laugh.

I'd love to see you collection of Hembeck sketches, Hoy! I'm a FB Friend, and I see his various sketches when he posts them, but I never look at the full array. I considered bidding on some, as I've always liked his style, but never saw The One that I really needed.
You do have to wonder how much the nice hat added to The Top's velocity. And why Stan mocked a costume design he no doubt approved, unless he approved it knowing he could mock it in the copy. Stan never met any white space he liked, so he might've figured it'd be good for filling a few extra balloons along the way.

Imagine an inter company crossover possible had he have chosen that comment as his name rather than Whirlwind...
Captain Carrot .....and the Human Turnip!
At Mr. Age's request, here's my Fred Hembeck sketch card collection.

Very cool! Now you need to get the full set of different Wasp costumes. That should add about 57 more for you to collect.

Classy.

It's too big for posting here, but I found the poster in question on this web page:

I also have a Hembeck of the Wasp with her pointy helmet in a different pose.
I think she's had more than 57...

Well, she IS a fashion designer!
Now, pity poor Lois Lane, who had to wear the exact same outfit in every episode of Superman: The Animated Series!
Why does she seem to be partly invisible in some of those?
Did the Avengers cartoon let Jan use different outfits?
I like that on the Flash TV show, he has all kinds of textures and piping and seams on his costume. That'd be a tough go in comics, as the artist would have to keep drawing all those various bits and pieces. But on the show, they can make it as ornate as they want because they don't have to redraw all that stuff in every panel!
