Comic books have always come under fire from time to time, with "concerned" parents, even those who don't have any children of their own directly involved, commenting about the state of the medium.

Now this?

They say history repeats itself, and this is coming from an affiliate of the same network that in December 2011 slammed The Muppets over their portrayal of rich people in their latest movie.

We all know that the median age for reading the main DC line has risen since the 1960s, and that readers today are a lot more aware of the world than they used to be, so interpret this however you want to.

But forewarned is forearmed.

  • And for those wanting a different take on the story, there is always the CBR report.

  • Frankly, I'm surprised that this is coming up so late! With our debate about Red Hood and the Outlaws and Catwoman and we know what comics are like now, how could anyone who thinks comics are just for kids not be offended??

  • Hope everybody watched "CONFIDENTIAL FILE".  What a show!!!

  • The station in question was the FOX affiliate in Washington, DC.

Guess they were hoping some Congress people there would be interested in jumping on the bandwagon.

Whether or not they do remains to be seen.

As long as the thought prevails that "comics are just for kids," there will be these kinds of reports full of fake outrage.

  • You now what REALLY cracked me up about CONFIDENTIAL FILE ? Apart from the way every person interviewed was on the side of the commentator... the show was directed by IRVIN KIRSHNER!!

(THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN)

  • Fox is owned by Rupert Murdoch.  Rupert Murdoch publishes The Sun in the UK.  A newspaper which is supposed to be fit to be brought into any home in the country.

Do not click if you are easily offended, but here is the web version of what that newspaper contains.

  • Oops sorry.  I thought the "offended" bit would have covered it, but I didn't think of unoffendable types in open plan offices...

Rupert Murdoch's newspaper, as it is published every day, is definitely not safe for work.  The hypocrite.

  • Isolating and attacking comics in today's pop-culture world is just cowardly. If you're really outraged by sex and violence, there are plenty of bigger targets -- movies, TV, videogames -- so to go after the little guy with few defenders is just being a bully.

  • Across the board, bullying is News International's stock-in-trade. They're a nasty outfit.
