After two issues , I have put the Dynamite THE SHADOW title on my pull , asking for the Howard Chaykin covers .
Frankly , this version or the Hankerchief-Wearing Big-Nosed Guy is interesting , as far as " drawing from this or that version " of the Cranston-claimer , as it seems to be less " purist " than most Shadow comics have been...Including more " comic-book "-y stuff and even appearing - Especially after I read the 2nd issue . - to include elements of the 90s Baldwin movie !!!!!!!!!
SPOILERS from now on .

I like it too. I've been getting the Jae Lee covers though. He is using a much cleaner style than he used to use. I like what he is doing now so much better.
I liked #1 a lot. Gritty period piece without Chaykin's fetishes. The Shadow appears to be merciful to his enemies, sometimes yet a complete bastard to his allies...and lover. Can he thrive in today's market? Only the Shadow knows....
...Well , he bears the Chaykin touch...........of having a sex life !!!!!!!!!!! From the 90s movie , the concept that ( Lamont , anyhow . ) Did Bad Things In The Orient in the past comes in...The movie had him more or less shanghied into virtue , IIRC the CB , thus yet , hasn't quite gone THAT far...
...When this title was first announced , I recall that One Of Our Number who is a comics shop owner said something like " Why do another try at this ? Why not do something That Would Have A Wider Audience ? " .
Unmm , though " wider-appeal stuff " is needed this comes off somewhat like saying " We need more movie musicals . Therefore , STOP all making of ' tough cop ' movies for now , so that we can have a wider appeal " . Maybe .
A certain Aging Fan's Remorse Syndrome , as I may detail more later .
...I am liking this one more & more...REALLY puply and nasty with the latest , and - the " shanghied " element from the Baldwin picture REALLY comes into play !!!!!!!!!!!
