Variety tells us that Alias is being adapted for television:
"Twilight" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg plans to adapt an edgy female Marvel character for her next TV project. Rosenberg is the writer and exec producer on "AKA Jessica Jones," which is in development for fall 2011 at ABC. ... Part of Marvel's Max line of more mature comicbook titles, the character is a superhero ("Jewel") who winds up with post-traumatic stress disorder and gets out of that biz. Jessica, now in her early 30s, decides to keep far away from others gifted with superpowers and to open her own detective agency. But once she settles down, she realizes she still has a drive to help people -- and finds herself assisting other superheroes.
This could be cool, though I'm not so sure about the Twilight connection... :-/

  • I think they wanted to avoid confusion with the J.J. Abrams spy series.

I now picture a network doing a remake of Lost in Space and audiences wondering, "Wait, where's Sawyer and Jack?"...
  • "Alias Selena Smith and Jessica Jones" ...

  • Wonder how they'll handle the language and her past with Peter Parker?

Maybe they'll have Michael Morbius and Jack Russell fight for Jessica's love until the new boy from the tough side of town shows up!

    Sweet Christmas!

  • I would be surprised if anything about Peter Parker was part of this TV series. As for the language, as this show is planned for ABC, it likely will be toned down. If it was going to FX or HBO, it probably wouldn't be changed, but cable networks don't have to follow FCC strictures.
