Sorry I haven't been around much the past several weeks. It's been a rough month at work -- so rough that I'm actively in the search for new employment. Several of you in the past have advised me to do so, but now I've got to. I just hope I can jump before I'm pushed; I'd like to leave on my own timetable. But I'm keeping good thoughts that I have the experience, skills, talents, connections and goodwill from people to land on my feet -- somewhere else.
And I have my loving wife beside me, who gave me not one but two insanely cool gifts this birthday. I've mentioned that I went to the Baltimore Comic Con, and was so excited about meeting Jose Luis Garcia Lopez that I barely noticed Neal Adams in the next aisle over. Well, she surprised me with a framed, autographed Neal Adams print -- the "Champions of the Milennium" cover he did for ESPN Magazine! This is an imitation of the cover he did for Superman vs. Muhammad Ali, instead featuring Muhammad Ali boxing, of all people, Michael Jordan (it doesn't make sense to me, either), with the crowd being the other 98 of the 100 biggest sports stars of the millenium -- including, among others, Magic Johnson, Babe Ruth, Arthur Ashe, Billie Jean King, Secretariat(!), Pele, and more!
The other gift was page 4 of Superman #309, drawn (and signed!) by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez!
