You get my thoughts before I head out to my D&D game:

  • I might actually get this turned in on time by Due Date on the front of the order form.
  • Dave Lapham on King Kull interests me enough to buy it.
  • I am confused about the Neil Gaiman autobiographical story being included in the Elric reprint, I guess it has something to do with it.
  • 2 New Batman books that I am mildly interested in, but I can wait.
  • That Commissioner Gordon back-up sounds like fun.
  •  I would be more into the Batman/Catwoman one-shot if Chaykin was just doing the writing and someone else was doing the art.
  • Brightest Day isn't over yet? Shows you how out of touch I am. How long is it?
  • JSA: All-Stars is still $3.99, but lost its back-up.
  • J.T. Krul seems to be getting a lot of assignments now. Anyone familiar/a fan of his work? I don't think I've read any myself.
  • Yes! Brian Bolland interior art on DC Legacies
  • The Nightmaster  one-shot seems pretty random, but I'm getting it.
  • 6 more of the DC Comics Presents trades. Seems a bit excessive.
  • 5 more video game comics from Wildstorm as well.
  • Odd, only 1 Vertigo title for me.
  • Is Image's Utopian a Squadron Supreme redux?
  • I really like the promo for the new Hobgoblin in Amazing Spider-man
  • New Avengers #6: Someone dies! And fandom utters a big "meh"
  • Hmmm, another Captain America origin. Okay...
  • The title that made me laugh: Heroic Age: Villains it might just be me
  • I don't read any of the mutant books, but I will try the new Generation Hope series. Will it be new reader friendly?
  • Namor getting a lot of appearances
  • I love that cover for Strange Tales #2
  • Alright check this out: 16 Thor comics or ones he appears in (team/crossover books). Plus, 3 more Thor related comics. Wow, just wow.
  • I always seem to miss the new Mouse Guard until after the first issue has been solicited.
  • A Betty White comic? Welcome to overexposure!
  • Its never been my thing, but congrats to Jim Balent and Tarot for making it 10 years in this industry.
  • 8 Green Hornet comics this month.
  • Another Vampirella revival.
  • Anyone else catch the Spider-man Snugg...err blanket with sleeves?
  • If I had all of the money I could want I would buy the Thundercats: Tygra statue...and the the Tigra statue.

  • Brightest Day is a year-long series.
  • I can't remember the details of the Gaiman story, but I think it's about his experiences reading Elric. Can't remember where I read it -- had totally forgotten it even existed until just now -- but I remember enjoying it.

It's a previously published short story that appeared in Smoke and Mirrors and, most likely, some magazine before that collection. I don't know if this is just a reprinting of the short story or a graphic adaption.
  • Thanks.. I've got Smoke & Mirrors, so that's no doubt where I read it. (No idea where it is, offhand, or else I'd look to see where it was first printed.)
  • Same here, Rob. I re-read it earlier this year but don't know where it is right now.

That's about the size of it. Instead of writing 'an Elric story', Gaiman wrote of a suburban schoolboy daydreaming about being a White Wolf racing through primordial forest.

Arty and 'clever' but also good - which sums up much of Gaiman's output.
