Another month, another thought or two. I guess I should point out there might be some spoilery stuff here.

1. I like Diamond trying to highlight some of the indie superhero comics.

2. Interesting that Bryan Cranston is noted for his role on Malcolm in the Middle over Breaking Bad for the Batman: Year One DVD.  Which I am interested in.

3. Why did House of Night have to be about teenage vampires? I guess I'll have to look at Jöelle Jones' art some where else

4. I'm not getting it, but the Brothers of the Spear archive looks like something different.

5. I'm guessing the Signalmen in JLI have nothing to do with Signalman.

6. I hope what I write is legible when I have to retype this since I am drinking a big old glass of rum & lemonade (good enough I think)

7. David Finch isn't getting any kind of writing credit on Batman: Dark Knight now. That didn't take long.

8. Batman: Through the Looking Glass could be really great. I like the pairing of Bruce Jones & Sam Kieth. Great insanity.

9. Nice selection on DC Comics Presents

10. Hard to believe the Batman archives are only to volume 8.

11. The Rocketeer treasury edition looks fantastic. If I didn't own it already...

12. I've avoided the new TMNT series so far, but they got me with the micro series AKA one-shots.

13. I do like Fred Hembeck's homage cover to Daredevil #175 on the regular TMNT series.

14. Brooklyn Dreams: a book so acclaimed and celebrated we won't tell you anything about it!

15. So Marvel is doing .1 comics on mini series now?

16. A lot of Marvel's solicits are in bullet point form, kind of weird.

17. 5 Avengers Origins one-shots. I wish them all the best.

18. So the original Vulture is coming back to Amazing Spider-man? Doesn't do a whole lot for me.

19. I do love that cover for the Spider Island: Epilogue comic.

20. Did people really demand an Alpha Flight ongoing? (Too mean?)

21. Is Villains for Hire Marvel's answer to Secret Six? Then again was Secret Six DC's answer to the Thunderbolts?

22. If I had money to burn I would so buy that the Captain America neon shield.

23. Thanks to Marvel for actually showing us what their posters look like.

24. APE sure is putting out a lot of kid oriented comics. I wholeheartedly approve.

25. My favorite title: My Best Friend is a Booger from Arcana.

26. That comic book straw poll is an insane idea.

27. I wonder who the creators are on the Peanuts comic.

28. Hey Jim Starlin! The Spirit isn't exactly an unsung hero.

29. Sometimes I do wonder what publishers are thinking: Eyes of the Cat. 56 pages @$70.00.

30. Only one page for trading cards. They have definitely seen better days.

31. I do love that Batman ice cube tray.

Thanks for asking, but I left mu notes at home. I must remember to bring them tomorrow. Here are a few responses to your thoughts…

    4. I'm not getting it, but the Brothers of the Spear archive looks like something different.

    I’ll be getting that one.

    10. Hard to believe the Batman archives are only to volume 8.

True, but you should factor in “Dark Knight” archives (at least) as well.

    11. The Rocketeer treasury edition looks fantastic. If I didn't own it already...

    Ditto.

    27. I wonder who the creators are on the Peanuts comic.

If it’s the same ones who adapted that TV special a few months ago, I’m on board. “Not charles Schulz but an incredible simulation.” It was more like a comic book (with different-sized panels and different pacing) than a simple reprinting of comic strips could ever be.

    28. Hey Jim Starlin! The Spirit isn't exactly an unsung hero.

I thought that about several of the choices. If they asked me (Ha!), I might pick E-Man.

    More tomorrow…

That was the one that just struck me as the most peculiar. That would be like me claiming "Stairway to Heaven"  as an underrated song. Picking a revered creator and their best known work.

  • Is the October 2011 (for December 2011) available already?

  • No, that should be out the last Wednesday of this month.

  • MMW X-MEN Vol. 8: Supposedly this volume reprints issues #161-167 (plus Annual #6 and some other stuff), but the previous volume left off with #159. I don’t care much for #160 and #161 is a better point at which to start the volume, but I am going to assume this discrepancy is a mistake in Previews.

BROTHERS OF THE SPEAR: As I mentioned Tuesday, I’ll be getting this.

SPIRIT WORLD: A big “YES” to this one!

Lots of good comic strip collections are solicited this month (including SECRET AGENT X-9 V3, BUCK ROGERS V6 and PHANTOM V4), but the real gem is…

WALT & SKEEZIX Vol. 5: It is far too long between volumes of this wonderful series!

BILL EVERETT ARCHIVES: This was solicited before, now expected
November 30. If there’s an underrated artist of the Golden Age, Bill Everett is him. In my estimation, he can’t be overrated.

HAUNT OF FEAR V1 & VAULT OF HORROR V2: EC Archives are back!
