Here’s what caught my fancy this month.

ALLEY OOP SUNDAYS: Between this volume (which starts at the very beginning) and the LOAC Essential (which reprints the dailies starting with the first time travel story), my prehistoric time-traveling caveman itch is thoroughly scratched. Look at that caveman go!

TALES OF THE BATMAN: CARMINE INFANTINO: I was a bit disappointed when the Dynamic Duo (“New Look”) Archives stopped after only two volumes a couple of years ago, but this is the next best thing. Hell, this is even better! Not only does it include 21 issues of Detective Comics, but also The Brave and the bold #172, 183, 190 and 194, DC COMICS PRESENTS: BATMAN #1 “and more”!

ALICE IN COMICLAND: Despite this being a Craig Yoe collection of “Alice in Wonderland” stories by Charles Schulz, Alex Toth, Dan DeCarlo, George Carlson, Harvey Kurtzman, Jack Davis, Dave Berg and others, I’m still undecided.

STRAY BULLETS: We’ve discussed this elsewhere but it bears repeating: Dave Lapham’s Stray Bullets is back! March sees the release of issue #41 (the long-awaited conclusion to the fifth story arc), Stray Bullets: Killers #1 (the first issue of the next arc), and the “Uber Alles” edition (collecting #1-41 in their entirety). I’m glad it’s back (don’t get me wrong), but since I already have three HCs collectiong the first three arcs, what I’d really like to see in HCs collecting the remaining two in matching trade dress.

FANTAGRAPHICS: A second volume of Barnaby (I didn’t pre-order the first), a volume of Henry (I’m undecided about this one), and a second volume of Simon & Kirby’s Young Romance (I’m definitely pre-ordering this one).

GOLD KEY STAR TREK: I’ve been waiting for some time now for IDW to pick up the gauntlet from where Checker dropped it several years ago. Whereas I never expected IDW to pick up where Checker left off, I had hoped IDW would reprint the Gold Key series in their popular “omnibus” format. I’m a little disappointed that they went the HC route, especially since they’re reprinting only six issues at a time. They are recoloring the series, though (which Checker never bothered to do), so I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. I may have six or seven tpbs for trade soon, but more likely (unless it’s really good coloring!) I’ll wait until IDW has caught up to the point Checker left off.

SUPERMAN DAILIES: A second volume featuring strips from 1961-63.

FLASH GORDON & JUNGLE JIM: The fourth and final volume. If you don’t have this stuff in other edition, this is the format to have. If you do have it in another edition, you have a decision to make.

SILVER SURFER: Everyone's bee singing the praises of Dan Slott for years now, but aside from an individual issue or two, he's never written anything I've been interested in. Now, with Mike Allred on art, this could be it. Dan Slott, this is your opportunity to impress me.
