  • Anyone planning to view the eclipse today?  Remember not to look directly at the thing, or you might damage your eyes and be possessed by Jean Loring!

Another comic in which a solar eclipse played a big part.

  • At my friendly neighborhood comics shop, the owner cautioned people to keep their pets inside, so they won't look at the eclipse and get hurt.

How do wild animals survive eclipses?

  • My students asked that same question last week. I told them that animals are smart enough to not look directly at the sun. It's we humans that need to be told! :)

  • This morning (I woke up at about 3am before eventually falling back asleep) I read a couple of finds on DC Digital: The villain's issue of Justice League Dark featuring Eclipso as well as the Eclipso Countdown Special, which featured an issue of Eclipso featuring a chess game between E and Darkseid as well as two issues of Ostrander and Mandrake's Spectre where a team of magicians (Dr. Fate, Madame Xanadu, Zatanna, Etrigan, etc.) has to take down an Eclipso-ed Spectre.

  • Starting to see a little bite out of the Sun here on Long Island.

  • Man, if nothing else, I was reminded today of how good Ostrander and Mandrake's Spectre run was.

I didn't recognize the Israeli sorcerer in this story, but I got the feeling this wasn't his introduction. Here's another one who is ripe for the plucking by a Geoff Johns or a Grant Morrison somewhere down the line.
