    On the one hand, I agree with you, but on the other, I can see a lot of creators champing at the bit for an opportunity to work on such complex and (within the industry) iconic characters...

    What is known only to a select few is that back in 1987, Derek Jarman was aorking on a prequel to Watchmen to eb set in Ancient Rome, which would transpose the characters to a new settign while maintaining both the content and Jarman's own style.

    The film was to be callled Custodes.
