If your city is like mine, the local newspaper isn't running the current Doonesbury strips this week. This is because the strip is talking about the Texas law which requires women seeking an abortion to undergo a transvaginal sonogram, an invasive procedure. I won't get into my politics here...but, um...yeah...

Thanks, Bill. I don't take the daily edition of the Dallas Morning News (only the Sunday), but (as you so eloquently put it), um...yeah... Hey, at least it's not as "invasive" as those airport pat-downs... we won't stand for those. Yee-HAW!
I like the irony that most of the people who object to the cartoons are ok with it happening in reality.
No, there are airport pat-downs in Texas. That was me being hyperbolic one minute before I was going to sign off for the day. I just find it ironic that some of the same politicians who are against the airport screening measures (including the “nude” x-rays) because they are “invasive” support the transvaginal sonogram which (I have it on good authority) are not only invasive but painful.
...I have meant to bring up Doonesbury , for its - um - 41st?? 42d?? anniversary .
I think that my local paper ( Westchester County , NYS ) may have carried the syndicated strip from its very beginning , or at least very early , so I read it pretty early , and though I've gone back & forth on reading over the years...Well , anyway .
Non-Americans:
Don't some " genteely liberal/leftie " papers outside the States such as the Manchester , UK , GUARDIAN carry it ??? ( Can't think of any other sure-of-name examples . )
