Ok, how about this for an idea. We take it in turns to post a favourite (British spelling) comic cover every day. This went really well on the comic fan website that I used to frequent. What we tried to do was find a theme or subject and follow that, until we all got bored with that theme. I'd like to propose a theme of letters of the alphabet. So, for the remainder of October (only 5 days) and all of November, we post comic cover pictures associated with the letter "A". Then in December, we post covers pertaining to the letter "B". The association to the letter can be as tenuous as you want it to be. For example I could post a cover from "Adventure Comics" or "Amazing Spider Man". However Spider Man covers can also be posted when we're on the letter "S". Adventure Comic covers could also be posted when we're on the letter "L" if they depict the Legion of Super Heroes. So, no real hard, fast rules - in fact the cleverer the interpretation of the letter, the better, as far as I'm concerned.
And it's not written in stone that we have to post a cover every day. There may be some days when no cover gets posted. There's nothing wrong with this, it just demonstrates that we all have lives to lead.
If everyone's in agreement I'd like to kick this off with one of my favourite Action Comic covers, from January 1967. Curt Swan really excelled himself here.

My parents' marriage date. They read Blondie and Dagwood, but they weren't much like this cover. My dad could fix anything-- a trait I did not inherit-- and my mother, a nurse, could keep calm when the situation required it.
JANUARY 1961 - BIRTH MONTH
All the "Little" characters on sale when I was born (from Mike's Amazing World): October 1958
July 1974: Though this month had the first appearance of WOLVERINE in Incredible Hulk #181, I bought The Superman Family #167! And I'm okay with that! It was chocked full of great reprints!
Looking back, I realized that I got some of the Supergirl SF, none of the Lois Lane ones but ALL of the Jimmy Olsen issues!
Other books from that months were: Brave and the Bold #115 (Batman & THE ATOM), Wonder Woman #214 (with GREEN LANTERN) (both were 100 Pagers!), Amazing Spider-Man #137, Marvel Triple Action #21 and (possibly) Strange Tales #174 (the first appearance of THE GOLEM)!
Another memory of comics past. After meeting the Not Ready For Prime Time Players, this is my next favorite Spider-man team up in a regular issue. (Image courtesy of the Grand Comics Database.) Tomorrow: my transition cover between March and April's themes.
Astro City #27. No transition cover, but how many covers have chibis (by Alex Ross)?
It's been too long since I've been to Astro City.
Meanwhile, here's my birth cover date, with nary a supervillain in sight:
Wow, Triplicate Girl! Really!
Here's my transition cover. One last time, JANUARY 1961 - BIRTH MONTH. And not a super villain to be seen.
August 1974: It's been fun figuring out which books actually came off the newsstand when I first started reading comics!
Here are tow covers with no super-villains that I got at that time:
Action Comics #441--a SUPERMAN/FLASH teamup but no race! (Action) Plus, Green Arrow and Black Canary meet KRYPTO THE SUPERDOG!
Marvel Triple Action #22--Seared into my mind! And why GOLIATH was my favorite Hank Pyn identity! Trapped at 10 feet tall!
Also, Batman #259 (with THE SHADOW), Justice League of America #114 (SNAPPER CARR!!) (Both 100 Pagers), The Avengers #129 (my first proper Avengers book but where were Goliath, Hawkeye and Quicksilver?) and Defenders #17 (against LUKE CAGE, POWER MAN! Sweet Christmas!).
Just to prove that I've not completely disappeared, one of the few cover from my birth month (May 1953) that actually appeals to me, Strange Adventures #32.
Real life is still horribly busy, so I'll probably continue to be mostly absent in April. I'd also point out that we have no themes decided for May and beyond, so perhaps it's time for someone to start proposing themes. Head on over to the Nominations thread to do so - you don't have to wait for me!
