"'Cause they taped it on only one day..." - NBC's The Sound of Music

...The NBC-TV remake of Rogers & Hammerstein's THE SOUND OF MUSIC as a " live play " production's airing is about one month in the past now , and I meant to post about it here before that ! But I didn't...

With 18 million viewers IIRC , it certainly qualified as " a hit " . NBC even repeated it a week-and-a-halfish later .

I saw it both times:-) .

It was meant to be a " TV play/live production " in the mode of the PLAYHOUSE 90/BELL TELEPHONE HOURs of yore , NBC claiming " For the first time in fifty years..." . I , myself , on the West Coast of the continguous 48 states of the USA (California) saw it as an immediate taped repeat , anyway , being 3 time zones to the west of the Eastern Time Zone , where it would have indeed shown live ~ along with the Central Time Zone .

The Mountain Time Zone , especially for such a " holiday special " as this , I am not so sure about . Anyone ?????

Has it shown outside of the U.S,. yet ~ I know we have Australian and Canadian residents here , others ???

The 1982 movie dropped songs (and added others), and the 1999 version dropped a few, so it might be the first complete version. I don't know if it's likely to be on TV here.

These days some cinemas show broadcast-style versions of plays and operas by major companies. I saw an RSC production of Titus Andronicus with David Troughton a few years ago.

From TVLine: "NBC's Annie Live: Harry Connick Jr. Joins Cast as Daddy Warbucks, While the Search for Annie Continues"

Is "the search for Annie continues" a comment on the casting process? Because that also sounds like the plot of most Little Orphan Annie comics.

I have a problem with the lyrics of "Tomorrow"... always have. I know the lyrics are "It's always a day away" but that has always sounds overly pessimistic to me: tomorrow will never come because it's always a day away." I think they should be "It's only a day away" as in, just 24 more hours, kid, and things'll be better. Tracy and I had this discussion just last week when someone auditioned with that song on America's Got Talent

The search for Annie is over!

From Vulture: "Maybe Now It’s Time for Annie Live! to Announce Its Annie, Celina Smith"

Have we heard from Emerkeith? With his preexisting health problems I'm a little worried.

I've thought about that, too. He last posted in December 2020.

From Variety"Jane Krakowski Joins ‘Annie Live,’ Reuniting With 'Kimmy Schmidt' Co-Star Tituss Burgess"

NBC releases a photo of Celina Smith, the lead in the upcoming Annie Live!, in costume, per Variety"NBC Debuts First Look at Celina Smith as Annie in ‘Annie Live!’ (TV News Roundup)"

NBC releases a trailer for Annie Live!

Because she's got a breakthrough case of COVID -- despite being double vaccinated -- Jane Krakowski drops out of Annie Live!, per Deadline: "Megan Hilty Steps in as Replacement for Covid-Struck Jane Krakowski In ‘Annie Live!’
