NO. 1: DC COMICS
BATWOMAN #1
(W) Greg Rucka (A/CA) DaNi
EISNER AWARD-WINNER GREG RUCKA AND VISIONARY ARTIST DANI BRING ON THE NEXT LEVEL FOR BATWOMAN! Batwoman. Daughter. Sister. Soldier. Hero. But since she was 10 years old, Kate Kane has lived in the shadow of a prophecy and the machinations of a religion devoted to the end of all things. How do you fight the devil when the devil is real? And how do you win? Acclaimed writer and co-creator of the modern Batwoman Greg Rucka returns to the story of Kate Kane alongside visionary artist DaNi for a DC Next Level series that will redefine Batwoman and her mission for a new generation.
I loved the New 52 Batwoman, but only because of the amazing art of J.H. Williams III. I couldn't care less about the character. Each variation on Batman is less interesting, and this one is a copy of a copy of a copy.
DEATHSTROKE #1
(W) Tony Fleecs (A/CA) Carmine Di Giandomenico
THE WORLD'S DEADLIEST ASSASSIN HITS THE NEXT LEVEL WITH TONY FLEECS AND CARMINE DI GIANDOMENICO! Soldier-turned-superhuman assassin for hire Slade Wilson has made hundreds of enemies in his day, and now one of them is taking his world apart piece by piece. The hit is out on Deathstroke as he evolves into his purest form...a terminator out for revenge and ready to kill anyone who stands in his way. Prepare for brutal violence with over-the-top action and intrigue from the twisted mind of writer Tony Fleecs (Stray Dogs, Uncanny Valley) with pulse-pounding art by Carmine Di Giandomenico (Flash). DC’s contract killing bogeyman is back and bloodier than ever!
He's a mass-murdering pedophile. Pass.
LOBO #1
(W) Skottie Young (A/CA) Jorge Corona
SKOTTIE YOUNG AND JORGE CORONA TAKE THE MAIN MAN TO THE NEXT LEVEL! VRRRRROOOOOOMMMMMMMM! The Main Man’s back, baby! And his ride is a motorcycle that moves at the speed of sound, but only if that sound is a rippin’ guitar solo, and you better hop on before he leaves you in the dust with all the bastiches he’s fragged for money or convenience! The Eisner-nominated creative team that brought you a fantastic parable of adolescence in the Midwest, the story of an artist who embraces darkness a little too closely, and the tale of a gunslinger with too much grit to stay buried brings you a classic yarn spun in the star-kissed threads of the cosmic DC Universe. It’s a guts-soaked path from DC K.O. to the end of the universe, where Lobo is going to scratch his name and number in the Source Wall with a cool knife. Don’t miss the mayhem, special guests, or tasty, tasty continuity! Don’t you do it!
Lobo's OK as a supporting character, where he can be amusing, especially in contrast to someone decent and honorable, like Superman. But I can't tolerate him for long as the protagonist, because I can't tolerate him for long.

SENTRY (2026) #1
Writer: Paul Jenkins
Penciller: Christian Rosado
HE'S BEEN AN AVENGER, A DARK AVENGER AND A THUNDERBOLT! THE SENTRY IS BACK - BUT SO IS THE VOID! From creator Paul Jenkins comes a bold, high-stakes epic about MARVEL'S most dangerous hero - the SENTRY, a man with the power of a million exploding suns- and the dark entity born from his own psyche: the VOID. When the Void resurfaces, threatening to unravel reality itself, the Sentry must battle not only cosmic forces and criminal empires, but the monster within. Guest-starring REED RICHARDS, SPIDER-MAN and the KINGPIN in a tale of impossible choices and devastating consequences. Can the Sentry save everything when the cost might be everything he loves?
I always wanted this charcter to die and stay dead, as the comics world is chockablock with ersatz Superman copies and we simply don't need any more. Heck, Marvel already had one! Any story you needed Sentry for, Hyperion could fill the, ahem, void. But nooooo, they had to give us another one. And now that he's in the movies, we'll never be rid of him.

CATACOMB OF TORMENT #9
(W) Jude Ellison S. Doyle, Celeste Bronfman, Joe R. Lansdale (A) Felipe Cunha, David Lapham, Malachi Ward (CA) Ariel Olivetti
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE CORPSES! Welcome back to the endless maze of the Tormentor’s catacombs . . . where the flesh is freshly flayed and the worst is always yet to come! In the malevolent EC Comics manner, breathe in that acrid stench and prepare for three ribcage-thrumming tales of trepidation wrought from the gaping maws of our latest victims . . . ahem, contributors: Celeste Bronfman (Star Trek, My Little Pony), Jude Ellison S. Doyle (Dead Teenagers, Be Not Afraid), Malachi Ward (Black Hammer Reborn), and more! Plus: A malicious milestone only in this issue: 11-time Bram Stoker Award winner, horror maestro, and certified comics legend Joe R. Lansdale (Jonah Hex: Two-Gun Mojo, Batman: The Animated Series) makes his long-awaited EC Comics debut!
Still on my pull list.
DEAD TEENAGERS #1 (OF 5)
(W) Jude Ellison S. Doyle (A) Caitlin Yarsky (CA) Naomi Franq
THERE’S NO ESCAPING HIGH SCHOOL! Since 1997, five friends have been trapped in the ultimate nightmare as a mysterious entity forces them to relive their first prom night over and over again ... and re-kills them in new and increasingly insane ways each time. They dress up. They party. They make out. And no matter what they try to change, they always die . . . until now. Something is about to break the cycle that has kept Alicia, J.T., Ryder, Brandy, and their group of friends locked in a bizarre purgatory beyond all understanding ... but what they find on the other side will be the most disturbing revelation of all. Hell is the '90s in this brash and brutal, genre-distorting ode to the generation that gave us Scream and Buffy the Vampire Slayer—and what’s become of them since—as GLAAD Award–nominated writer Jude Ellison S. Doyle (Maw, Be Not Afraid) and hyper-talented artist Caitlin Yarsky (Black Hammer Reborn, EC’s Cruel Universe) unleash the year’s most clever and compulsively page-turning horror thriller.
Reliving high school for eternity? OK, now THAT'S scary.

Hawkmoon returns in this transformative graphic novel of Moorcock’s epic dystopian series.
Experience the post-apocalyptic future where Dorian Hawkmoon strives to fight against his Granbretan captors.
Moorcock’s Battle of Kamarg sets the stage for an iconic war! Hawkmoon: The Battle of Kamarg adapts Moorcock’s novel with stunning artwork that highlights the amazing worldbuilding in this epic series.
Set in a post-apocalyptic age of primitive technology and strange magic, Europe has been conquered by the tyrannical Granbretan empire led by King-Emperor Huon. When the city of Köln falls under the empire’s iron ire and its Duke, Dorian Hawkmoon is captured, it’s up to one of the last strongholds of civilization to rescue him and end the Granbretan’s evil rule.
Under the thumb of Baron Meliadus and the King Emperor due to the black jewel entombed in his forehead, Dorian Hawkmoon infiltrates the land of Kamarg in order to steal away the Lady Yisselda. But the only man standing between him and his mission is his former ally and leader of Kamarg, Count Brass.
From writer Jérôme Le Gris and artists Benoît Dellac and Didier Poli, Hawkmoon: The Battle of Kamarg is the second in a four-volume epic.

SENTRY (2026) #1
When they created the character as a gone and forgotten hero, I appreciated the concept. Bringing him back or using his image and name (for trademark purposes) shouldn't have happened.
Sentry strikes me as simply too unstable to be much of a main character. A great supporting character or occasional antagonist, though.
Of course, it is possible that the character concept is being retooled. The solicitation blurb does not make it sound like that is happening before the storyline's end.
"Super Creepshow" may be interesting. Kieron Gillen is a good character writer,as I recall from his Eternals work.
I already have a facsimile of this. Why are they repeating themselves?
Because comic book readership completely turns over every four or five years.
I always wanted [the Sentry] to die and stay dead...
I couldn't agree more.

Ultraman v21 still hasn't shipped to my LCS.

Same. It was an interesting one-off.

While Lobo is too vile. Maybe they should team up.
Ultraman v21 still hasn't shipped to my LCS.
Viz doesn't have a major distributor, so my LCS doesn't get their books (and complains about it). I wonder how yours does. It might not be so easy. Anyway, I checked the website and Viz lists Ultraman v21 as having shipped Feb. 26, while instocktrades doesn't have it yet. (If I were you, I'd order Ultraman from instocktrades -- 30% off, and they don't list it until they have it.) Both Barnes & Noble and Amazon have it for sale at full price, so it exists and it has shipped.
The owner of my LCS was out of the shop on a rare Wednesday last week, but when I followed up on it the week before, he said he hadn't forgotten about me, but hadn't placed his order with [?]* yet and would follow up when he did. I'll check with him next week.
*I forget which distributor he mentioned, but he's getting his Viz books from somewhere. I'm so far behind actually reading that seires that I can afford to be patient. I'm not at all worried about it at this point.
