Artists, Family, and Students Unite to Honor Joe Kubert
Leading the celebration is DC Special #5 Facsimile Edition, accompanied by a newly commissioned artist-jam homage cover that brings together members of the Kubert family and acclaimed Kubert School alumni to celebrate Joe Kubert’s enduring influence on generations of comic book artists.
Contributors to the commemorative cover include Adam Kubert, Andy Kubert, Emma Kubert, Jan Duursema, Tom Mandrake, Ron Wagner, Amanda Conner, Rick Veitch, Stephen R. Bissette, Lee Weeks, Ron Randall, Steve Lieber, and colorist Brad Anderson.

Also arriving in September is Joe Kubert: 100 Years — A Life in Covers, a comic book gallery showcasing some of the most memorable covers from Kubert’s remarkable career.
Spanning multiple decades of DC history, the collection highlights Kubert’s work on titles including The Brave and the Bold, House of Mystery, Sgt. Rock, Ragman, and more, demonstrating the versatility, emotion, and storytelling power that made Kubert one of comics’ most recognizable visual voices.
The one-shot also includes a special foreword by Katie Kubert, offering a personal perspective on her grandfather’s enduring legacy.

Kubert deserves every bit of this celebration. I probably own, or at least have seen, most of this art already. But I may get them all anyway.

QUEEN IN BLACK: THOR, meanwhile, is a tale of Beta Ray Bill and the Mortal Thor, Sigurd Jarlson—how they react to Hela, and how Hela reacts to them. Writer and artist Guillem March (Batman, The Joker, Catwoman, Karmen) returns as a solo creator with the upcoming romantic thriller, Ofiusa. This sultry, six-issue miniseries is set to launch this September from Image Comics.
Stunningly illustrated, Ofiusa will also feature additional variant covers by March, including a Raw Art variant, a blank sketch variant, and a NSFW polybagged variant.
In Ofiusa, the romance between the irresistible Mar and the young entrepreneur Joan gets off to a flying start. In another timeline, Joan meets the enigmatic Isla on a paradise island. A love triangle in which everyone is hiding something, while a dark secret from the past awaits to be revealed.
With exquisite artwork that evokes paradise and a story that gradually lays bare the characters’ souls — while also leaving room for fun, seduction, and the search for truth. Be careful when diving into the waters of Ofiusa.

EXQUISITE CORPSES: FOX MASK KILLER #1 (OF 5)
Superstar writer Che Grayson (Absolute Catwoman) and brilliant artist Adam Gorham (The Infernal Hulk) are partnering up again for the second Exquisite Corpses spinoff series to hit shelves, Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer. The two creators joined forces for issue #4 of Exquisite Corpses Season One, showcasing a tense showdown between Fox Mask Killer and Lady Carolina. Now they will explore the backstory of the fan-favorite sword-wielding killer in a five-issue limited series coming from Tiny Onion and Image Comics this September.
Eisner Award winning colorist Jordie Bellaire (The Nice House, Redlands) and critically acclaimed letterer Becca Carey (Radiant Black) are collaborating with Grayson and Gorham on the title.
The launch issue will also feature gorgeous covers by popular artists such as Gorham, Annie Wu (Hawkeye), Ito (Something is Killing the Children covers), Mike Huddleston (Decorum), Inhyuk Lee (The Ultimates covers), and Exquisite Corpses co-creator Michael Walsh (The Silver Coin, Universal Monsters: Frankenstein). Walsh’s variant will come polybagged with a collectible trading card tied to Exquisite Corpses: The Game, which was just successfully funded on Kickstarter. There will also be a special Witchblade team-up variant cover by Walsh.
“From the moment James and Michael welcomed me into the world of Exquisite Corpses, I knew It was something special,” said Grayson. “I gravitated instantly to Fox Mask Killer, a character whose design alone provoked a rich backstory and undeniable aura. The biggest treat for me as a writer was the challenge of bringing depth to a character whose face readers would never see … until now. With this new limited series, the mask finally comes off, and I couldn’t be more excited to team up again with my best mate Adam alongside stellar talents Jordie and Becca. IIRC, there were 12 serial killers in the Exquisite Corpses series, so we could potentially have a dozen of these spin-offs.

Dynamite Entertainment announces another anticipated volume in the ongoing paperback editions of the complete Vampirella Archives compiling the character's original era, as well as countless classic anthology tales.
This shining seventh volume reprints issues #43-49 of the Vampirella magazine originally released by Warren Publishing. These stories were originally released from summer 1975 through spring 1976.
These seven books can be picked up and enjoyed in any order by readers, all offering a batch of exciting stories featuring horror, science fiction, fantasy, and more, as well as the ongoing epics of the Daughter of Drakulon. The preceding sixth entry included different visions of Vampi by artists Leopold Sanchez, Jose Ortiz, and the ending of writer Flaxman Lowe's run.
For this volume deep into the series, writer Bill DuBay takes over as the primary architect of Vampirella's tales. Fans get another nice mix on the art side, with not only definitive illustrator of the era Jose Gonzalez, but also Gonzalo Mayo, Zesar Lopez, and a massive key issue with #49 featuring the first appearance of the Blood Red Queen of Hearts drawn by Esteban Maroto. The all-Vampi issue of #46 includes a retold origin.
Other creators in these issues include Len Wein, Luis Garcia, Ramon Torrents, Fernando Fernandez, Gerry Boudreau, Rafael Auraleon, Jose Ortiz, Isidro Mones, and more.
The highlight of the epic eighth book following this one will be the crossover epic in issue #50 featuring Vampirella, Pantha, Fleur, and even a special cameo by The Spirit. While issue #54 features an epic 42-page Vampirella tale, one of the largest from the Warren era.

Picked this one up at the mall on Friday. It wraps up the Hero-Hunter storyline, so I'm curious to see where they go next.
Are there any recurring features in Creepshow?
If there are, maybe the policy is to keep each volume self-sufficient and to make them relatively short so that this feature can be presented as marketing differential to reassure readers that they will not be pushed into buying something else to get the complete story.
I have very recently realized that it may be a valid and useful marketing strategy at the current time. An assurance against event bait, if you will.
I don't know why they keep re-starting this title.
Short term sales boost I imagine.

AHOY has really scaled back over the course of the summer. They used to release three of four titles each month. I don't remember when the last one came out. They were talking about some sort of Kickstarter something-or-other at one point, but I don't know what ever became of that.
