I've made my way through episode 1223 now. Bramwell says he'd send Daphne -- whom he'd been married to for less than a day -- to hell in order to be with Catherine, but she rejects him and says he must never speak of the baby to Morgan. But then she gets the short straw on the lottery, and will be spending the night in the Bad Room. However, once she gets there, she learns that Morgan has gone in before her and changed the locks, and only Quentin has the key, which he will not cough up. Morgan finds a secret door in the Bad Room and goes through.
The next day, Morgan's alive! However, he doesn't think he's Morgan anymore. Later, at Carrie's cottage, we learn that he thinks he's James Forsythe, who was there at the origin of the curse!
To be perfectly honest, I miss vampire shenanigans.

I'm caught up to 1223 now, too. I keep trying to figure out why they're telling this story. The only thing I can think of is that they're trying to return the show to its roots, a gothic soap opera with supernatural overtones, and failing miserably. I can pretty much quarantee that I will never again watch the "1841 PT" storyline.
I've now seen through episode 1226. James is feuding with the ghost of Brutus over a skeleton in the basement. The love triangle between Daphne, Catherine, and Bramwell continues -- with Daphne standing up for herself a bit more. (Bramwell is insufferable and both sisters are better off without him.) Melanie and Kendrick are starting to become an item, even though Melanie dissociates every now and then and starts to think she's someone else. And Gabriel meets Flora in the garden, with a hidden knife in his hand.
I made it through episode 1230 by the end of November, so I'm still on track to wrap Dark Shadows in 2025. We (and Kendrick) learn that Melanie killed Stella during one of her dissociative episodes. He actually seems... okay with it? Understanding, at least. But also, Morgan has gone full-on James Forsythe, and the family does a seance with Carrie (and her dad, played by the long-missing Thayer David, yay!) to bring Forsythe's spirit out of Morgan's unconsious body (even though a seance usually draws a spirit in). Forsythe has been trying to kill Constance, who he believes Julia to be; Catherine drugged him. Never take a drink from a Collins.
Forsythe, naturally, blames everything on Brutus, who's already popped up as a ghost, played by Louis Edmonds. Hopefully we'll see more of him before the show ends.
Anyhow, this is apparently Quentin's last episode, since David Selby got sick for a while. And could it also be the show's last seance?

I got to episode 1226 and really didn't have too much to say. Then I got to 1230 and at least there's been a seance.
And shouldn't Ben Stokes be about 80 years old by now?
In the main 1840 timeline, Ben Stokes was Carrie's grandfather, but in 1841 PT she's his daughter, so apparently this Ben Stokes is the son of the one from the 1795, so that tracks.
I've seen through episode 1234 today, and we've got some things happening! Bramwell gets back from town and says his ship has (literally, from the Indies) come in, and his money troubles are over -- he's rich now. But Daphne has contracted some sort of unidentifiable disease, and is dying. Unexpectedly, Bramwell is taking the news hard, given that his wife dying is one less obstacle toward him marrying his siter-in-law Catherine (who's married to his brother). Jeez, it's like there's only one family in this town. Regardless, it seems like Bramwell suddenly might love... Daphne? He seems as shocked by this as we are.
Meanwhile, Melanie and Kendrick are still an item. And she's gone to psychic Carrie Stokes to see if she can discover who her parents were. Carrie learns her father is dead, and as she's starting to get a vision of her mother, who's alive, Julia interrupts her. Later, she warns Carrie not to say anything more to Melanie, or else she'll tell Carrie's dad that she was seancing without a license.
And then there's Gabriel. He's been crazypants violent, and locked up in the tower. Flora has gone to him, and while he plotted to strangle her behind her back, she decided she wanted to let him out because it's been a week and he's been a good boy. She goes to talk to the other members of the family, and they all walk her back from that idea. Julia goes up to tell him so, and deliver some food, and when it takes an hour (!) for her to come back down, the Collinses go up to check on her. We see her lying, strangled, on the floor.
Oh, and Morgan has snapped out of the possession by James Forsythe, after a flashback that tells us the history of the Collins curse back in 1680. Forsythe caught Brutus embezzling, then Brutus killed him. And his wife, Amanda, who was helping him. And then his sister, Constance. And then when there was no one else around, he cursed his own family... not sure why!

That's a good summary of epsodes 1230-1234, but again, I have noting to add.

Today would've been Jonathan Frid's 101st birthday.

Happy birthday, and fangs for all the memories!
